Yamask had been sleeping in the artifacts, but accidentally dropped its mask, which it loved dearly. Hawes picked the mask up and mistaked it for a replica, so he put it in a display kit. But when Yamask awoke and saw its mask in the display kit, it thought it was stolen. Later, when Ash and co. came, Yamask finally showed its anger by using the moves it knew to do strange things. Finally, Lenora, Hawes‘ wife, and the Nacrene City Gym Leader, shows up and calls Yamask out of hiding and scolds her husband for putting the mask in the display kit. Hawes and Lenora apologize to Yamask about the mask incident, and Yamask forgives them. Finally, Yamask leaves joyfully with its mask and goes back to the wild.
