Xurkitree (Japanese: デンジュモク, Hepburn: Denjumoku) (ZURK-ih-tree[1]), code named UB-03 Lightning, is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It is one of the Ultra Beast introduced in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Xurkitree's hands are made out of copper wiring, and it has feet that look like plugs. Its head resembles a spiky lamp or treetop of some sort. Xurkitree also has a tail that extremely resembles an ordinary household plug. Its white "leaves" are probably zip ties, used to hold various cables and cords together.
Behavior[]
Xurtitree possesses an internal organ that generates high amounts of electrical energy. It can release those energies in high amounts, reaching up to 1,000,000 volts. Xurkitree have been known to anchor its limbs on the ground, imitating a tree in order to absorb electricity.

Trivia[]
- Xurkitree and Poipole are the only single-typed Ultra Beasts.
- Xurkitree, along with Xatu and Xerneas, is one of only three Pokémon whose name starts with "X".
- Xurkitree's spiky white head and black and white striped body bear a slight resemblance to Team Skull leader Guzma. This fits the theme of the Ultra Beasts resembling human characters in the story (with Pheromosa resembling Lusamine, Kartana resembling Gladion, Nihilego resembling Lillie and Buzzwole resembling Kiawe). It also resembles Steven Stone to some degree.
- Its attack animation consists of it planting all five of its limbs on the ground, thus resembling a plant of some sort. However, it normally walks on only two.
- Xurkitree is the tallest Electric-type Pokémon.
- It also has the highest base Special Attack stat of all Electric-type Pokémon.
- Because of the vast difference between its Attack (89) and Special Attack (173), Beast Boost will always boost Xurkitree's Special Attack no matter how its stats are augmented, since its maximum Attack (304) cannot surpass its minimum Special Attack (315).
Origin[]
Xurkitree seems to be based on tangled wires and a neuron. It also shares similarities to a tree, especially a Christmas Tree, as its body resembles Christmas lights and its head resemble a tree topper, often depicted as a star.
With the theory that the original seven Ultra Beasts are based on the Seven Deadly Sins, Xurkitree may be based on the sin of greed, as it is sometimes found invading the human world to sap power from electrical plants simply to generate itself.
Etymology[]
Xurkitree is a corruption of "circuitry" that incorporates "tree."
Denjumoku is a portmanteau of 電磁 (denji, electromagnetism) and 樹木 (jumoku, tree).
