XY132: A Riveting Rivalry!/Transcript

This is a transcript of the Pokémon the Series: XYZ episode: "A Riveting Rivalry!".

Narrator

The Kalos League semifinal match between Ash and Sawyer is well under-way. Will Ash settle an old score and win against his rival? One of them will face Alain in the finals, but which one?

[Aegislash - in Blade Forme and Pikachu are in action on a forest-based battlefield.]

Announcer

What's that about? Aegislash has chopped up every tree on the battlefield.

Ash Ketchum

Let's see what you're up to, Sawyer.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Chespin

Chespin-Che-Che!

Bonnie

Why? Why would they chop all the trees?

Tierno

Knowing Sawyer, he's no doubt got some kind of plan.

Clemont

Normally someone would do that so it would be easier to see. But now?

Sawyer

All right. Good work, Aegislash.

Aegislash

Aegis!

Ash Ketchum

All right, here they come, Pikachu.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

[The opening theme and title card plays.]

[The crowd cheers and claps. Cut to Diantha and Sycamore.]

Professor Sycamore

Looks like Sawyer's up to something interesting. How marvelous.

Diantha

So far, he's been planning his tactics very carefully, which makes me think we'll find out if he's coming up with something to defeat Pikachu soon.

[Alain is watching, his back is against the wall.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Iron Tail!

[Pikachu sets up Iron Tail.]

Sawyer

King's Shield, go!

[Aegislash sets up a honeycomb-shaped barrier, blocking Pikachu's attack. Pikachu lands on a tree stump. A blue aura surrounds him. Pikachu notices and becomes worried.]

Ash's Pikachu

Pika?

Ash Ketchum

That's right! If we attack while Aegislash is using King's Shield, Pikachu's attack power gets weaker.

Ash's Pikachu

(Demanding a move) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

So the more we attack, the worse it is for us. What should I do?

Tierno

Ash is in a tough spot, all right.

Clemont

His attack options are so limited.

Bonnie

(Worried) What's he going to do?

Chespin

(Worried) Chespi-Che!

Dedenne

(Worried) Denene!

Sawyer

Use Sacred Sword!

[Aegislash lights up his sword and approaches the target.]

Ash Ketchum

Dodge it quick!

[Pikachu jumps from place to place, but gets hit by the swinging sword, blasting him back to the ground with a dust cloud.]

Ash Ketchum

No, Pikachu!

[As the dust clears, a wounded Pikachu slowly gets up.]

Ash's Pikachu

(Struggling) Pika...

Tierno

Hold on. I get the feeling Sawyer is trying to slow Pikachu down as much as possible.

Shauna

What do you mean?

Tierno

The chopped trees are making Pikachu unsteady. That keeps it from getting a secure foothold. While on the other hand, Aegislash is floating.

Clemont

So Sawyer's got the advantage!

Sawyer

All right, use Sacred Sword again!

[Aegislash lights up his sword and approaches the target.]

Ash Ketchum

Dodge it!

[Pikachu jumps from place to place, but ends up with his back against the rock, and gets hit, blasting him back and landing on the log.]

Ash Ketchum

No, Pikachu!

Sawyer

I can't just let you move around freely, you know?

Ash Ketchum

All right, Thunderbolt!

[Pikachu jumps from place to place and jumps, loading up Thunderbolt.]

Sawyer

King's Shield, go!

[In slow motion, Aegislash converts to its shield forme.]

Ash Ketchum

(Annoyed) Oh!

Aegislash

Slash!

[Pikachu shoots Thunderbolt, which doesn't break through King's Shield.]

Dedenne

Dene?!

Bonnie

(Annoyed) Not again!

Ash Ketchum

I got an idea I think will work. I know it's a really big risk, but we've got to give it a shot, okay?

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Ash Ketchum

I believe in you, buddy.

Ash's Pikachu

Pikaaa!

Sawyer

Ash is up to something for sure. I know that expression on his face, I've seen it plenty of times. Okay, Aegislash, heads up.

Ash Ketchum

Okay, Pikachu, Iron Tail!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-chu! Pika!

[Pikachu breaks the logs with Iron Tail, separating them into chunks as they fly up into the air.]

Announcer

Pikachu knocked the wood up into the air! What could that mean?

Sawyer

What will that do? Use Fury Cutter!

[Aegislash surges forward.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, use the trees!

[Pikachu is jumping from tree chunk to tree chunk, using them as platforms. Aegislash chops tree chunks in half, in the hopes of finding Pikachu, while Pikachu continues jumping. Sawyer grunts in annoyance. An annoyed Aegislash chops up all the chunks at once. It suddenly notices Pikachu coming towards it as Pikachu jumps.]

Sawyer

I thought that you'd do that. Aegislash, King's Shield!

[Aegislash converts to its shield forme. At the point where Aegislash briefly lets go of its shield...]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Pikachu, use that piece of wood!

[Pikachu kicks a wood chunk, trapping it into the back of Aegislash's Shield while it's loose. Aegislash is unable to get its sword through it. Sawyer grunts in annoyance. Aegislash struggles to take the piece of wood out.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Thunderbolt!

[Pikachu hits Aegislash with Thunderbolt, knocking it to the ground.]

Sawyer

Aegislash!

[Aegislash faints.]

Referee

Aegislash is unable to battle, Pikachu's the winner!

[The crowd cheers so loud the stadium shakes. Ash, Sawyer and Pikachu pant in exhaustion.]

Announcer

What an incredible strategy! Pikachu jammed up that King's Shield with a piece of wood. I've never seen that before!

Bonnie

(Happy) Yay, Pikachu won!

Serena

(Happy exhale)

Clemont

That was a classic Ash win.

[Sawyer returns Aegislash back to his Pokéball.]

Sawyer

Aegislash, take a good rest.

Ash Ketchum

Come here, buddy!

[A delighted Pikachu lands on Ash's shoulder.]

Ash Ketchum

You did it.

[The battlefield changes.]

Announcer

That's two wins in a row for Ash and Pikachu. Three of Sawyer's Pokémon have been defeated, so it's time to change the battlefield.

Sawyer

I can't believe you ever would have used a tactic like that in a million years. I wouldn't have!

Ash Ketchum

Seriously?

Sawyer

Of course not. Without perfect timing and aim, that strategy never would have worked.

Ash Ketchum

(To Pikachu) That's 'cause of you. You're the best.

Ash's Pikachu

(Sweet) Pika-Pika!

Sawyer

Wow, that's what it is. (To himself) Total trust between Ash and Pikachu! That's why Ash is so strong. (To Ash) All right! Now why don't you show me more of what you've got?

Ash Ketchum

Sure!

Announcer

And now the battlefield we've prepared for them is...badlands!

[A battlefield depicting rocky mounds appear.]

Referee

Please get your Pokémon ready.

Ash Ketchum

Noivern, I choose you!

Announcer

Ash has sent Noivern as a substitute for Pikachu.

[Noivern lands.]

Ash Ketchum

Show 'em how it's done.

Sawyer

Salamence, let's go!

[Salamence is deployed from Sawyer's Pokéball. It roars and lands with a thud.]

Announcer

Sawyer's fourth Pokémon is Salamence. Both Trainers have chosen Dragon-types.

[Serena checks Salamence on the Pokédex.]

Pokédex

Salamence, the Dragon Pokémon. Constant dreams of flight caused a shift in its cellular structure.- When it evolved, Salamence finally grew wings.

Salamence

-(Roars)

Ash Ketchum

So Shelgon evolved into Salamence, huh? Great.

Sawyer

Thanks, Ash. It's a lot stronger now, too.

Referee

Battle begin!

Ash Ketchum

Noivern, use Boomburst!

[Noivern leaps and uses the move.]

Sawyer

Dodge it, quick!

[Salamence flies and twists to dodge the move, but as the two Pokémon take the battle to the air, Salamence gets hit.]

Announcer

Noivern strikes first with Boomburst.

Ash Ketchum

Noivern, use Dragon Claw!

[Noivern glows its claws green.]

Sawyer

Dragon Rush, go!

[Salamence cloaks itself in a blue light. They charge towards each other, hanging in there with their moves, and soon causing an explosion. Noivern appears to be wounded from the move.]

Ash Ketchum

Noivern, are you OK?

Noivern

Vern...

Sawyer

I can't afford to lose, one more time! Incinerate!

[Salamence unleashes a plethora of Fiery Orbs towards the target.]

Ash Ketchum

Dodge it!

[Noivern dodges all the orbs and gets close to his opponent.]

Sawyer

Dragon Tail, go!

[Noivern is hit - Ash's friends gasp in shock;]

Clemont

Salamence used the flames from Incinerate to lure Noivern in.

Ash Ketchum

Noivern! Yeah, way to go!

Sawyer

Incinerate!

[Salamence sets up the move.]

Ash Ketchum

Dodge it!

[Salamence fires more orbs; Noivern dodges.]

Ash Ketchum

Use Boomburst!

[Boomburst collides into an orb, causing an explosion of smoke.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Acrobatics!

Sawyer

Oh no! Even in smoke, Noivern can locate Salamence's position!

[Noivern glows and charges towards the target.]

Sawyer

Salamence, Protect!

[Protect blocks Acrobatics.]

Sawyer

All right, Dragon Rush, let's go!

Ash Ketchum

Use Acrobatics!

[The two moves collide together in mid-air, creating an explosion causing Ash and Pikachu to flinch. Ash's friends, Alain, Team Rocket watch in anticipation. As the smoke clears, Noivern and Salamence have both fainted. Everyone gasps.]

Announcer

Salamence, Noivern. Both are unable to battle! Both are down. It's a draw!

[The crowd cheers. Ash returns Noivern back to his Pokéball.]

Ash Ketchum

You were awesome. Take a good rest.

[Sawyer returns Salamence back to his Pokéball.]

Sawyer

Thanks for a great battle, Salamence. All right, Slurpuff, let's go!

Slurpuff

Slurpuff!

Announcer

Sawyer has chosen Slurpuff as his fifth Pokémon. Now for Ash's choice.

Ash Ketchum

Goodra, I choose you!

Announcer

What a surprise! Ash chose Goodra, which has a type disadvantage!

Ash Ketchum

(To Goodra) I know you haven't battled in a long time, but you'll be awesome!

Goodra

(Nods) Goo!

Sawyer

So, it's Goodra. The only one of Ash's Pokémon I've never battled against. I've done no research, but let's do our best, Slurpuff!

Slurpuff

Slurpuff!

[The segment "Who's That Pokémon?" plays.]

Sawyer

Use Flamethrower!

Slurpuff

Slur...puff!

[Slurpuff fires Flamethrower.]

Ash Ketchum

Ice Beam, let's go!

[The two moves collide.]

Sawyer

Dazzling Gleam, now!

[Slurpuff cloaks itself in a bright light. Rainbow colored rays approach and hit Goodra.]

Announcer

And it's a Dazzling Gleam direct hit! What a super-effective attack!

Goodra

Goodra!

Sawyer

No doubt Goodra's tough, all right. All right, how about this? Use Fairy Wind!

Ash Ketchum

Use Bide!

[Goodra tanks the Fairy Wind, causing an explosion. As the smoke clears, Goodra has a red fiery aura.]

Goodra

Goodra!

Sawyer

All right, Slurpuff, Cotton Guard!

[Slurpuff surrounds itself in cotton. A blue aura glows around it.]

Ash Ketchum

Break it up, quick!

[Goodra releases Bide towards Slurpuff. The move does no damage.]

Sawyer

OK.

Ash Ketchum

Uh! Use Ice Beam!

Goodra

Goodra!

Sawyer

Now Flamethrower!

Slurpuff

Slur...puff!

[Ice Beam and Flamethrower collide and create an explosion of steam. Sawyer commands while the steam is still up.]

Sawyer

All right, Slurpuff, Fairy Wind!

[Slurpuff navigates through the misty battlefield and finds Goodra's silhouette. It releases the move from close range, hitting Goodra and blasting it back.]

Ash Ketchum

Goodra!

Sawyer

Slurpuff's sense of smell is beyond incredible. Even in the smoke, it knows where Goodra is.

Ash Ketchum

(Laughs) Then I guess you're getting me back for Noivern.

[Sawyer smiles, then becomes competitive again.]

Sawyer

Flamethrower!

Ash Ketchum

Use Bide!

[Goodra tries to resist Flamethrower's impact.]

Ash Ketchum

Goodra, hang in there.

Sawyer

They're feeling it! There's no doubt Goodra's taking damage. Let's finish this with Flamethrower!

[The Flamethrower continues to wear down Goodra. Cut to Bonnie, looking worried.]

Bonnie

Oh, no! Hope Goodra can hang in there.

Trevor

We'll have to see.

Serena

Something's got to give. This can't go on.

[Slurpuff stops using the move.]

Sawyer

Hmm. Huh?

Slurpuff

Slurpuff?

[As the smoke clears, a heavily wounded Goodra stays standing, with a red fiery aura.]

Announcer

And Goodra has managed to deal with those fierce flames!

Ash Ketchum

Go!

[Goodra shoots Bide.]

Sawyer

Slurpuff, Fairy Wind!

[They hit each other with their moves, creating another explosion, causing Ash to flinch and groan. Both Pokémon have fainted.]

Referee

Both are unable to battle!

[The crowd cheers.]

Announcer

And it's another double defeat! What a clash of wills! This match isn't over until it's truly over.

Trevor

This is a battle I'll never forget.

Bonnie

I feel like I can barely catch my breath.

[Sawyer returns Slurpuff.]

Sawyer

Thank you, Slurpuff. You were great.

[Ash returns Goodra.]

Ash Ketchum

You were awesome, Goodra. You deserve a good rest.

Announcer

Now we wait for Sawyer's sixth Pokémon.

Sawyer

Sceptile, let's go!

[Sawyer deploys Sceptile. The Mega Badge is visible around Sceptile's neck.]

Sceptile

Scep...TILE!

Bonnie

Sawyer's using Sceptile!

Clemont

His final Pokémon!

Trevor

Pikachu's already taken damage, but Greninja hasn't gone yet.

Tierno

And don't forget, Sceptile can Mega Evolve.

Serena

(Worried) Oh, Ash, take care...

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, you're up.

Ash's Pikachu

(Fired) Pi! Pika!

Announcer

There it is. Ash has chosen Pikachu.

Ash Ketchum

All right, Pikachu, Quick Attack!

[Pikachu glows a white outlines and dashes toward the target.]

Sawyer

Keep your distance, Sceptile! Use Leaf Storm!

[Sceptile leaps up and hits Pikachu with Leaf Storm, scooping it up in the air.]

Ash Ketchum

Thunderbolt!

[Pikachu negates Leaf Storm with Thunderbolt.]

Sawyer

A power move.

Ash Ketchum

Iron Tail, go!

[Pikachu glows its tail.]

Sawyer

Use Leaf Blade!

[Leaf Blade and Iron Tail bounce off of each other.]

Sawyer

Use Frenzy Plant!

[Sceptile pounds the ground, growing vines which approach Pikachu.]

Ash Ketchum

Dodge it!

[Pikachu is squashed by the vines and smacked down to the ground.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu!

[As the dust clears, Pikachu faints.]

Referee

Pikachu is unable to battle. Sceptile's the winner!

[The crowd cheers. Cut to Ash's friends, worried.]

Serena

Oh, no, poor Pikachu!

Clemont

I think Pikachu had already taken too much damage from before.

[Ash picks up Pikachu and takes him off of the battlefield.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, you were great. Take a good rest.

Announcer

Now Ash is down to his last Pokémon. This battle has reached its final chapter.

Ash Ketchum

All right, let's do it. Greninja, I choose you!

[Greninja is deployed. The crowd cheers.]

Greninja

Greninja!

Sawyer

I've been waiting for Greninja! It's finally come to this.

Ash Ketchum

Hey, sorry we made you wait. This one will decide it all. (Strong arm pose) Let's both give it everything we got!

Sawyer

(Strong arm pose) Right with you, Ash. We'll leave it all on the field.

Ash Ketchum

Greninja, Water Shuriken!

[Greninja jumps and throws the shuriken.]

Sawyer

Use Dragon Claw!

[Sceptile glows its claws green. IT breaks the shuriken, leaving just watery bursts.]

Ash Ketchum

Double Team, let's go!

[Greninja leaps and makes several copies of itself.]

Sawyer

Use Frenzy Plant!

[Sceptile pounds the ground, growing vines which approach Greninja's area. The fakes vanish as they touch the vines as the real Greninja navigates through the vines.]

Sawyer

There, use Leaf Blade!

[Sceptile glows its blades and runs toward the target.]

Ash Ketchum

Use Cut!

[Greninja and Sceptile tussle with their moves. Their weapons break and they reset.]

Announcer

I can hardly catch my breath watching this! It seems like the whole arena feels the same way.

Serena

Incredible.

Sawyer

Ash, I've been trying to catch up to you this whole time, and at first it seemed so impossible, so insurmountable, but if I can beat you today, I think I can truly reach the next level. That's why I wanted to battle the real Ash. And he came back, just like he promised. Looks like our unfinished battle will end right here.

Ash Ketchum

Sawyer, I'm sorry. I panicked. I was scared. Scared of you, because you were coming up on me so fast, and then suddenly you surpassed me. Thanks to you, I was able to rediscover myself. I'll show you what we're really made of! (To Greninja) Here goes, Greninja! Full power!

[Ash-Greninja vision activates.]

Ash Ketchum

(Yells)

Greninja

Nin...jaaa!

[The signature shuriken appears on Greninja's back.]

Announcer

There it is, that mysterious Greninja!

[The crowd roars into a frenzy, heavily shaking the stadium.]

Bonnie

Yay, go Ash-Greninja!

[Sawyer activates the Mega button on the keychain of his notebook.]

Sawyer

We're ready, Sceptile. We've got tons of experience. MEGA EVOLVE!

Sceptile

Scep...tiiile!

[Sceptile completes transformation to its Mega counterpart.]

Announcer

Sceptile's evolved into Mega Sceptile!

Sawyer

Frenzy Plant, go!

[Sceptile pounds the ground, growing vines which approach Greninja.]

Ash Ketchum

Dodge it!

[Greninja jumps. A pair of vines approach it from below.]

Ash Ketchum

Use Cut!

[Greninja twists down and cuts the vine, landing safely.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Water Shuriken!

[Greninja throws the shuriken.]

Sawyer

Dragon Claw!

[Sceptile blocks the shuriken with Dragon Claw. Greninja is now running.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Aerial Ace!

[Greninja runs past the steam clouds and closes in on Sceptile. It uppercuts Sawyer's Pokémon with Aerial Ace, and hits it again.]

Sawyer

Leaf Storm, let's go!

[Sceptile blows Greninja with Leaf Storm. Greninja blocks the attack and lands safely.]

Sawyer

Use Leaf Blade!

[Sceptile hurries toward Greninja with glowing blades.]

Ash Ketchum

Cut, let's go!

[Sceptile and Greninja tussle again with their moves. They land at a safe distance.]

Sawyer

Quick, use Leaf Storm!

[Sceptile scores a hit on Greninja with Leaf Storm. Ash also feels pain from the impact. Greninja is now falling down.]

Ash Ketchum

Not yet!

Sawyer

Wrap this up. Frenzy Plant!

[The vines head toward Greninja. Greninja scales the landing on the vines and runs along one of them towards Sceptile.]

Ash Ketchum

Use Cut!

[Greninja breaks vines with Cut.]

Shauna

Ash-Greninja keep getting pushed back! It can't seem to close the gap between the two of them.

Tierno

How do you handle the power of Frenzy Plant?

[Greninja is seen dodging more vines.]

Clemont

Yeah...

Bonnie

What now? Is Ash going to lose?

Serena

Don't worry. Ash is one with Greninja right now, and they won't give up until they've given it all they've got.

Clemont

Ash's power is the power of two becoming one. As long as Ash becomes one with Greninja, and as long as Greninja becomes one with Ash, they'll always be stronger for it.

[Greninja is now on the ground. More vines approach him.]

Ash Ketchum

Use Cut!

[Greninja breaks vines with Cut.]

Professor Sycamore

Marvelous. Ash has truly become one with his Greninja.

Diantha

Yes.

[Greninja's Shuriken is at full power.]

Ash Ketchum

Go!

[Greninja takes off through the vines.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Greninja, Double Team, let's go!

[As Greninja falls it makes several copies of itself.]

Ash Ketchum

Get ready for this, Sawyer. This is everything Greninja and I have got. Water Shuriken!

[Greninja grows a giant Shuriken and raises it in the air.]

Sawyer

Sceptile, use Leaf Storm!

[Greninja leaps and tosses the giant Shuriken. Just as Sceptile executes Leaf Storm, a massive explosion quakes the stadium. The crowd watch nervously. As the dust clears, Sceptile faints and reverts to its Normal form.]

Referee

Sceptile is unable to battle. Greninja wins! The match goes to Ash.

[The crowd cheers as on the scoreboard, Sceptile's icon turns gray and an icon of Ash with the text "WINNER" shows.]

Announcer

That's that. It's decided, Ash will be moving on to the finals.

[Cut to Ash's friends, with the crowd around them celebrating.]

Serena

Ash did it!

Bonnie

All right, all right!

Clemont

Way to go, Ash!

Shauna

Congratulations, Ash!

Tierno

Ash is awesome!

Trevor

What a win!

Bonnie

Everybody was so great in that battle!

[Serena blushes and nods.]

Clemont

Incredible! That was a Pokémon battle!

Announcer

Let's give another big round of applause for this stupendous battle.

[The crowd cheer. Greninja, back to its normal form, sits down panting, along with Ash. Ash punches the air.]

Ash Ketchum

We really did it, Greninja!

Jessie

Wow, the twerp really pulled it off.

James

And we know what that means.

Meowth

He can win the whole enchilada!

[An impressed Sycamore claps.]

Professor Sycamore

Incredible! That was truly an indescribable match.

Diantha

The future is bright for those two trainers. It would make me very happy if there were more trainers just like them in the world.

Professor Sycamore

Yeah, I agree completely.

[Alain walks. Sawyer and Ash close in on each other.]

Sawyer

I experienced everything you had to give. It reminded me once again why I admire you so much.

Ash Ketchum

It was great, for sure. (Rubbing his nose) You had me so super-psyched. (Smiles) I was having a ball!

Sawyer

Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to keep on training and battling and getting lots of experience. And one day I'm going to be even better than you.

Ash Ketchum

And don't you forget, I'm going to work harder and get stronger, too. I'll never give up! (Offers a handshake) We'll battle again, right?

Sawyer

Battle again? Right!

[Sawyer and Ash handshake.]

Narrator

The fierce and highly competitive match between Ash and Sawyer has come to an end. Of course, both trainers will continue to gain more experience and strength, along with the promise to battle again one day. but for now, the finals are up next,- with Alain as our hero's opponent as the journey continues.

[The caption "TO BE CONTINUED..." appears at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
