This is a transcript of the Pokémon the Series: XYZ episode: "Valuable Experience for All!".

Kalos League Battle Heat!

Malva

Malva here, reporting live. The Kalos League is under way, and we're well into the battle action. Now, let's all take a look at a summary of the battles up to this point. In the first bout, the action was between Trevor and his Mega Charizard facing off against Alain and his Mega Charizard. Next, there was a riveting appearance by Ash's Greninja. But without a doubt, the highlight of this tournament has got to be the Mega Evolved Pokémon competing here. Pokémon such as Astrid's Mega Absol, and Remo's Mega Garchomp are bringing a level of mega excitement to the Kalos League, unlike anything we've seen before. I can hardly wait for more battle action to come, and I'm sure you feel the same way.

[The opening theme and title card plays.]

Astrid

Now, Absol, Psycho Cut!

Absol

Absol!

[Mega-Absol shoots a crescent-shaped blade toward the target. Hawlucha, on Ash's side of a castle-based battlefield, jumps at the last moment to dodge the attack.]

Ash Ketchum

Hawlucha, Flying Press!

[Hawlucha hits Absol with Flying Press, causing it to faint.]

Astrid

Absol, no!

[Absol returns to its normal form.]

Referee

Absol is unable to battle, which means Ash is the winner!

Ash Ketchum

Yeah!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Hawlucha

Lucha!

[The crowd cheers as on the scoreboard, an icon of Ash with the text "WINNER" shows.]

Announcer

Following his victory against Astrid, Ash will be moving on to the semifinals.

[Meanwhile, Ash is walking along the corridor. Sawyer meets up with him.]

Sawyer

Ash!

Ash Ketchum

Hey, Sawyer!

Sawyer

The semifinals! Congratulations!

Ash Ketchum

Thanks. You're up soon, Sawyer.

Sawyer

That's right. And I'll win.

Ash Ketchum

Mm-hm.

Sawyer

Ash, remember what you said?

[A flashback plays of an earlier episode.]

Ash Ketchum

We'll battle at the Kalos League. I'm going to break my losing streak. And then you and I will even the score.

Sawyer

(Smiles) Yeah. You're on, Ash.

[The flashback ends.]

Sawyer

That's why I'll win.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah. But Tierno's really strong.

Sawyer

Tierno's your friend, isn't he?

[Sawyer brings out and opens his notebook, flicking through the pages.]

Ash Ketchum

That's right. Watching his first and second battles, I know I need to be careful against Tierno's rhythmic battling style.

[Sawyer closes his notebook.]

Sawyer

I'll mess with his rhythm, that's all.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, that's the spirit.

Sawyer

So I'll be as prepared as I can be. I also have a secret weapon all set.

[Ash and Pikachu become surprised.]

Ash Ketchum

A secret weapon?

Sawyer

Super secret. See you soon.

Ash Ketchum

OK, good luck.

Sawyer

(To himself) So, Ash made it to the next round. I can't lose until I've kept my promise.

[At the stadium, the crowd cheers. Cut to Malva, signaling her hand to "come over here".]

Malva

Okay. Over here. Over here.- Time for another interview.

[At the other end, Team Rocket slouch toward Malva and groan.]

Meowth

(Miserably) All these interviews. Why do we always have to run around here like there's no tomorrow?

Jessie

I agree. We don't get a second to steal even one of the pickable Pokémon here at the Kalos League.

James

Steal them? But how? We can't even figure out which ones are worth the time!

Meowth

Even Pikachu's right under our noses.

[Team Rocket groan and slump to the floor.]

Meowth

This dude needs a nap.

[Back at the stadium, the crowd cheers as on the scoreboard, an icon of Remo with the text "WINNER" shows.]

Announcer

Remo's the winner! We now have three competitors qualified for the semifinals, which means there's just one slot left.

[Cut to Clemont, Bonnie and Serena, gawking while watching the screen.]

Shauna

Hi! (Panting) Did I make it?

Serena

Shauna!

Trevor

Yeah, you just did. Tierno's battle is about to start.

Shauna

(Sits next to Serena) That's a relief. Nice to see you, Serena. How have you been?

Serena

I'm great. Looks like you're doing well, too.

Shauna

(Smiling) Mm-hm. I feel great! How's Ash?

Serena

He's moving on to the semifinals.

[Ash walks down the stairs to meet his friends.]

Ash Ketchum

Hey, it's Shauna.

Shauna

Hi, Ash. I hear you're moving on to the semifinals, right?

Ash Ketchum

Yeah.

Shauna

(Stands up) Who's Tierno battling against?

[Ash sits down.]

Trevor

He's battling a trainer named Sawyer.

Ash Ketchum

Sawyer's pretty strong. I even lost to him one time.

Shauna

(Blinks) He's that's strong? (Sits down)

Clemont

Not only he is strong, he's an impressive analyst.

Shauna

Sounds like it's going to be a tough battle.

[The crowd cheers and applauds.]

Announcer

And for our last battle before the semifinals,- it's Tierno versus Sawyer!

[Tierno and Sawyer walk through the tunnel. The battlefield converts to a wasteland field.]

Announcer

And here's where our competitors will be battling it out - a wasteland field.

Referee

Now for your Pokémon.

Sawyer

Aegislash. Let's go!

[Aegislash is deployed from Sawyer's Pokéball.]

Aegislash

Aegislash.

Ash Ketchum

Whoa, check it out.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

[Ash scans the Pokémon on his Pokédex.]

Pokédex

Aegislash, the Royal Sword Pokémon, an evolved form of Doublade. Stories say Aegislash can detect the natural qualities of leadership, recognizing a true king.

Serena

So, his Doublade evolved, then.

Announcer

And now, what Pokémon will Tierno be using?

Tierno

(Cartwheels before throwing) Ludicolo, it's time to dance!

Ludicolo

Ludicolo!- Ludico! Ludico! Ludicolo! Ludico!

[-Ludicolo and Tierno dance in synchronization. The crowd cheers and applauds.]

Announcer

Feast your eyes on Ludicolo's masterful dancing!

Shauna

Wow! Look at them go!

Clemont

Tierno and Ludicolo are in perfect unison.

[Trevor takes photos.]

Bonnie

(Calling) Lots of luck, Sawyer! And you too, Tierno!

Ash's Pikachu

(Calling) Pika!

Dedenne

(Calling) Nenene!

Serena

I hope they both do will.

Referee

Battle begin!

[The scoreboard displays a "VS" screen. The two trainers with their Pokémon and two other Pokéballs.]

Tierno

Now, here we go with our battling beat. Rock it with Rain Dance!

Ludicolo

Ludicolo! (Dances) Ludi-ludi-colo-colo! Ludi-ludi-ludi-ludi-ludi-ludi-colo!

[A rain cloud gathers over the arena. thunder rumbles and rain starts falling.]

Sawyer

Rain Dance, huh? That means Water-type moves will be stronger now. Completely textbook. I know what to do. Aegislash, use Swords Dance!

[A ring of swords surround Aegislash, followed by a red aura. The crowd cheers.]

Aegislash

Aegi-gi-gi-gi-gi...

Tierno

So, they're using Swords Dance to raise attack power.

Clemont

Tierno use Rain Dance to take advantage of the field, and then Sawyer responded brilliantly.

Trevor

I wonder which one will come out on top.

Sawyer

Use Swords Dance once again!

Tierno

Use Hydro Pump!

[Hydro Pump hits Aegislash before it could respond.]

Sawyer

(Groans) It's fast. Uh. (To himself) Ludicolo's ability is Swift Swim. Rain Dance increases Water-type moves and Swift Swim boosts Ludicolo's speed in rainy weather. Very nice.

Tierno

Now, finish with Hydro Pump!

Ludicolo

Colo!

Sawyer

Use Slash!

[Aegislash, in Sword Form, charges towards the target, but is hit by Hydro Pump, blasting it back and landing on its sword.]

Sawyer

Aegislash, you okay?

Aegislash

(Opens eye) Aegis.

[Tierno and Ludicolo dance in sync, starting with a one-handed handstand followed by a breakdance.]

Ludicolo

Ludi-Ludicolo!

Tierno

Yo! Yo-yo! Are you giving up, bro?

[The crowd cheers.]

Announcer

Aegislash just can't seem to handle Ludicolo's power and speed.

Sawyer

(Annoyed, to himself) Ludicolo's so fast and strong. This doesn't look good.

Ash Ketchum

Ludicolo's really well trained. Tierno worked really hard.

Clemont

Rain Dance was skillfully executed. I wonder how Sawyer will deal with all of this.

Sawyer

In that case...

Tierno

All right, Hydro Pump again!

Ludicolo

Colo!

Sawyer

All right, Aegislash, King's Shield!

[Aegislash reverts to Shield Forme. It sets up a honeycomb-style shield to block Hydro Pump.]

Serena

Aegislash's stance, it changed.

Bonnie

You're right.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Dedenne

Dene.

[The shield disappears as Hydro Pump runs out. Aegislash remains intact.]

Clemont

King's Shield allows it to change so it can defend against attacks. Not only that, it can also lower its opponent's attack power.

[The two trainers chuckle.]

Ash Ketchum

King's Shield, whoa!

Sawyer

Time to counterattack. Aegislash, Sacred Sword!

[Aegislash converts back to Blade Forme. It lights up its sword.]

Tierno

Hydro Pump, go!

[As Ludicolo fires Hydro Pump, Aegislash breaks through Hydro Pump with Sacred Sword and hits the target, blasting it back.]

Ludicolo

Ludicolo!

Tierno

Oh, no!

Sawyer

All right, Swords Dance!

[A ring of swords surround Aegislash, followed by a red aura with particles moving upwards.]

Tierno

Ludicolo, use Solar Beam!

[Ludicolo lights up its hat. It grunts while it loads up its move.]

Ludicolo

Ludi-i-i-i...

Sawyer

Use Sacred Sword once more!

Ludicolo

Colo!

[Aegislash charges towards its target. Ludicolo unleashes Solar Beam. Aegislash swipes the opponent, causing an explosion which shocks Ash and his friends. Ludicolo faints.]

Ludicolo

(Weakly) Ludicolo...

Tierno

Ludicolo!

Referee

Ludicolo is unable to battle. Aegislash is the winner!

[The crowd cheers.]

Announcer

It worked! That Sacred Sword cut right through Ludicolo's Solar Beam, giving Aegislash a great victory. That puts Sawyer up one zero.

[Tierno returns Ludicolo back to his Pokéball.]

Tierno

Thanks, Ludicolo. You deserve a good rest. (Handstands, spins on his head and throws the next Pokéball) Raichu, it's time to dance!

[Raichu is deployed.]

Tierno's Raichu

Rai!

[The segment "Who's that Pokémon?" plays.]

[The crowd cheers.]

Tierno

Now, Raichu, use Charge Beam!

[Raichu leaps and releases the move.]

Sawyer

King's Shield!

[Aegislash reverts to Shield Forme. It sets up a honeycomb-style shield to block Charge Beam.]

Tierno

Oh no! That King's Shield again!

Sawyer

All right, Aegislash, use Slash.

[Aegislash, in Blade Forme, glows its sword.]

Tierno

Quick, use Dig!

[Raichu dives underground. Aegislash swings and misses with Slash.]

Tierno

Rockin'!

[Aegislash is right by Sawyer's side, looking around below the ground.]

Announcer

By using Dig, Tierno's Raichu managed to dodge that Slash.

Sawyer

Here he comes.

Aegislash

Aegis.

[The ground shakes. Raichu roars and hits Aegislash directly with Dig.]

Tierno

Yes!

Sawyer

Ah!

[Aegislash crashes to the ground.]

Sawyer

Aegislash!

[Aegislash faints.]

Referee

Aegislash is unable to battle. Raichu's the winner!

[The crowd cheers and applauds.]

Tierno

Raichu, you ready to rock? Let's go with that rhythm!

[Tierno dances while Raichu spins on its back and does a handstand. Sawyer returns Aegislash back to his Pokéball.]

Sawyer

Thanks a lot, Aegislash. You take a good rest.

Trevor

Now it's one to one.

Ash Ketchum

They're both giving it their all.

Bonnie

This battle is so exciting.

Serena

I wonder what Pokémon he'll use now.

[Cut to Team Rocket, perching on the barricade with tired looks.]

Jessie

(Groans) Check, please. The last thing I need to hear is more talking heads. (Sweating excessively, voice breaking) I'm burnt from "Kalos League Battle Heat". (Shouting) I hate that phrase! If i hear it one more time, I'll scream!

Meowth and James

We'll join ya.

James

Hold on. I say we quit this job and work on pilfering Pokémon full-time.

Jessie

You're right. That's a job worth working for.

Malva

Hey!

[The team turn to Malva.]

Jessie

Huh?

Malva

I need you to get back to work. I can't do my job without you. Come on, Kalos League Battle...

[Team Rocket turn blue, shake and scream in anguish.]

Sawyer

Slurpuff, use Attract!

[Slurpuff puts its arms together. Glowing hearts attract towards Raichu. He gasps and shields his eyes. Raichu is now infatuated.]

Tierno

(Sweating) No, Raichu!

Announcer

Look out. Tierno's Raichu has been struck with a potent Attract.

Tierno

Raichu, Charge Beam!

Tierno's Raichu

La-la-la!

[An in-love Raichu disobeys and spins on its foot. Tierno blinks and sweats further, confounding himself.]

Tierno

Oh, no!

Sawyer

Energy Ball!

[Slurpuff hits Raichu with the move, causing an explosion. It clears to reveal Raichu landing on its belly sucking its mouth.]

Tierno

Raichu, no! All right, return!

[Tierno returns Raichu.]

Announcer

With no choice, Raichu returns.

Tierno

Blastoise, now! Let's go!

[Blastoise is deployed. Fired up, it shoots its cannons.]

Tierno's Blastoise

Blastoise!

[The crowd cheers and applauds.]

Sawyer

So, Blastoise is up next, huh? Slurpuff, use Attract!

[Slurpuff uses Attract again.]

Tierno

Now, Blastoise, it's time to dance!

Tierno's Blastoise

Bla-a-a-a-astoise!

[Blastoise intercepts Attract with Rapid Spin. It is not infatuated.]

Sawyer

I get it. That's not going to work.

Tierno

(Dances) Hey, no surprise here, we're in the groove. Attract can't get through.

Tierno's Blastoise

Blastoise.

Ash Ketchum

What a team. Tierno and Blastoise!

Serena

Clemont, why isn't that Attract working?

Clemont

I'd say it has something to do with mental toughness.

Tierno

Blastoise, use Hydro Cannon now!

[Blastoise shoots from its two cannons.]

Sawyer

All right, Slurpuff, dodge it!

[Hydro Cannon hits Slurpuff before it can react, causing an explosion of water. Slurpuff is blasted back and crashes to the ground. It faints.]

Sawyer

No! Slurpuff!

Referee

Slurpuff is unable to battle. Blastoise is the winner!

[Tierno and Blastoise dance in celebration.]

Tierno

Yeah!

Tierno's Blastoise

Blastoise! Blastoise!

[Sawyer returns Slurpuff.]

Sawyer

Thank you, Slurpuff. You deserve a good rest. Just one Pokémon left. It's up to you. Go, Sceptile!

[Sceptile is deployed. It has a Mega-button on its scarf.]

Sceptile

(Strong arm pose) Sceppptiiile!

Tierno

That Sceptile's got some amazing moves. Blastoise, let's do it. Use Ice Beam!

[Blastoise shoots ice from its cannons.]

Sawyer

Leaf Storm, go!

[Sceptile unleashes Leaf Storm from its tail. The two moves collide, causing an explosion.]

Tierno

Awesome! I love a good challenge. Hydro Cannon!

[Blastoise shoots water from its cannons.]

Sawyer

Dodge! Then Leaf Blade!

[With its blades glowing, Sceptile runs aside to dodge the attack, then charges toward its opponent, hitting it with the move and causing an explosion.]

Tierno

Blastoise!

[Blastoise, still standing, looks around, while Sceptile lands back on Sawyer's side.]

Tierno's Blastoise

Blastoise.

Tierno

That Sceptile's really fast, all right. But for power, Blastoise is top of the charts. Now, Blastoise, use Skull Bash!

Tierno's Blastoise

Blastoise!

[Blastoise charges head first towards the target.]

Sawyer

Sceptile, Frenzy Plant!

Sceptile

Sce-e-e-eptile!

[Sceptile pounds the ground. Vines grow around him, hitting Blastoise and blasting him back.]

Tierno's Blastoise

(Hurt) Blastoi-oi-oi-oise!

Tierno

Blastoise, no! (Grunts and sweats) Use Rain Dance!

Tierno's Blastoise

Blastoise!

[Blastoise - in mid-air, executes Rain Dance while he falls. Rain clouds form on top of the stadium. Blastoise crashes to the ground.]

Serena

What's that for? Why Rain Dance?

[Thunder rumbles and rain falls. Blastoise faints.]

Referee

Blastoise is unable to battle. Sceptile's the winner!

[The crowd cheers and applauds.]

Tierno

Thanks, Blastoise. You gave it your all, buddy.

[Tierno returns Blastoise and speaks to his Pokéball.]

Tierno

Your Rain Dance will set us up for the next round. (Cartwheels) Raichu, let's rock!

[Raichu is deployed.]

Tierno's Raichu

Rai, Rai, Rai!

Announcer

And finally, Sceptile versus Raichu.

Ash Ketchum

If you look at power, Sceptile's got the edge.

Clemont

(Thinking) But what's going on? Why did he call for that Rain Dance at the end?

[Rain still falls.]

Announcer

Who will move on to the semifinals? Is it Sawyer or is it Tierno?

Tierno

Now, Raichu, use Thunder!

Clemont

(Realizes) Of course! Using Thunder in the Rain never misses, its Accuracy is a sure thing.

Serena

Sure thing? So that's what it's all about.

Tierno's Raichu

Rai, Rai, Rai, Rai, Rai!

[Sawyer looks at his Mega Button on his notebook.]

Sawyer

I've battled a lot and I've gained a whole bunch of great experience (Activates his Mega-button) and that's my strength!

[Sceptile's Mega-button activates.]

Sawyer

Sceptile, Mega Evolve!

[Sceptile starts transforming into its Mega counterpart.]

Sceptile

(Roaring) Sce-e-e-epti-i-i-ile!

[Sceptile completes its transformation.]

Serena

Sceptile Mega-evolved.

Ash Ketchum

Sawyer's secret weapon!

Tierno

It Mega-evolved? All right then. Use Thunder!

Tierno's Raichu

Rai! Rai, Rai, Rai, Rai!

[Raichu hits Sceptile with Thunder. The hit does no damage as Sceptile stays standing. A double-screen of Tierno and Sawyer shows, looking confused and mischievous respectively.]

Tierno

It didn't work!

Announcer

They used Lightning Rod to defend against Raichu's big attack.

Sawyer

When Sceptile Mega-Evolves, it's ability is called Lightning Rod.

[Cut to a shocked Tierno and an upset Raichu.]

Sawyer

The Thunder won't work on it.

Tierno

It can't be!

Tierno's Raichu

(Gasps)

Sawyer

Mega-Sceptile, Dragon Claw!

[Sceptile glows its claws green, and leaps toward the target.]

Tierno

Focus Blast, go!

Tierno's Raichu

Rai!

[Raichu sets up an orb and releases it. Sceptile blocks Focus Blast by slashing its claws and hits the target with the move. Raichu is forced in the air...]

Tierno

Oh, no, Raichu!

[..and crashes to the ground, groaning and fainting.]

Referee

Raichu is unable to battle, which means the victory goes to Sawyer!

[The crowd cheers as on the scoreboard, an icon of Sawyer with the text "WINNER" shows. Sceptile returns to its normal counterpart. Tierno returns his last Pokémon back to his Pokéball.]

Tierno

I guess that's it for us. So let's cheer for the winner.

Shauna

Oh, Tierno!

Clemont

I'd say Sawyer's sheer passion overwhelmed Tierno's power. It seems that's the one thing that made all the difference this time around.

Serena

Yeah! And who knew that Sceptile could Mega-Evolve?

Ash Ketchum

Sawyer's trained really hard to be at the Kalos League. I can't wait for our battle.

Ash's Pikachu

(Evil eyes) Pika, Pika!

[Cut to the scoreboard, with the four contestants qualified for the semi-finals on each card.]

Announcer

All the semifinal slots have now been filled. Starting with the semifinals, we'll be seeing full six on six battles.

[The four cards shuffle.]

Announcer

And here's what the match ups look like.

[The cards face up and the draw is revealed. The crowd cheers.]

Announcer

It's Alain versus Remo. And it's Ash versus Sawyer! there is plenty of battle action coming up tomorrow. the Kalos League is really getting heated up.

[At the sunset, Ash and his main group of friends are walking down the steps, outside the stadium.]

Clemont

Ash, what are you going to do about tomorrow's six on six battle?

Ash Ketchum

Huh?

[They stop. Ash turns to Serena.]

Serena

Yeah, you've only got five Pokémon. You've got to figure something out.

[Ash shudders. Ash and Pikachu show shocked looks.]

Ash Ketchum

Argh! What time is it?

[The time displays 5 minutes to six.]

Ash Ketchum

(Panics) Oh, no!

[Ash runs down the stairs.]

Serena

Huh? What's wrong?

Bonnie

Wait up, Ash!

[Ash's friends catch up to him.]

Ash Ketchum

He should be coming any minute.

Serena

Huh? Who are you talking about?

Ash Ketchum

(Looking ahead) Huh?

[A pickup truck arrives. Ash notices.]

Ash Ketchum

There they are!

[Goodra, on the truck's trailer, sees Ash. Ash and friends are delighted.]

Ash Ketchum

Ha-ha! (Runs to the driver) Hey, Goodra!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

[The truck stops. Goodra jumps off the truck.]

Goodra

Goo, goo! Goodra!

Ash Ketchum

Keanan, thanks so very much. This is great.

Keanan

It's my greatest pleasure.

[Serena and Bonnie gawk.]

Ash's Pikachu

(Waving) Pika!

Clemont

Goodra. So then the last Pokémon on your team...

Ash Ketchum

Right. My sixth Pokémon is going to be Goodra.

Goodra

Goodra.

Ash Ketchum

Actually, I had already decided, back when we visited Goodra.

[Ash flashes back to a moment he met Goodra.]

Ash Ketchum

Almost time for the Kalos League.

Goodra

Goodra.

Ash Ketchum

If I can make it to the semifinals, it'll be six on six. But right now, I only have five Pokémon. I thought maybe Professor Oak could send me one. Instead, there's someone else that I really want to battle with.

Goodra

(Pleading) Goo...

Ash Ketchum

And, Goodra, that's you. (Pleading) Please battle by my side in the Kalos League.

Goodra

(Approving) Goo. Goodra! (Hugs Ash) Goodra! Goo!

Ash Ketchum

Aw, come on. You're really too much, Goodra.

Goodra

Goodra. Goo.

[The flashback ends. Ash throws his Pokéballs, deploying his other four competing Pokémon. They all stand alongside each other.]

Ash Ketchum

There's no-one else who could win against the Pokémon in the Kalos League like you can. You're the best possible team. I know we can do it. We'll beat Sawyer together!

[All of Ash's Pokémon cheer.]

Narrator

Ash and his team of six Pokémon, now including Goodra, are getting ready for the semifinals. His opponent, Sawyer, the winner, the answer, along with lots of heated excitement as the journey continues.

[The caption "TO BE CONTINUED..." appears at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
