Wyrdeer (Japanese: アヤシシ, Hepburn: Ayashishi) (WEER-DEER[1]) is a Normal/Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Wyrdeer is gray in color, sporting white sections around its hooves that have small tufts of fur sticking from behind its legs. It also has a large amount of fur, particularly around its tail and face, with the latter looking not unlike a beard. It has a brown nose, white eyebrows, droopy ears, a relatively thick rump, and large horns with segmented sections. Its horns have two black orbs, making the horn pattern resemble a pair of eyes.
Behavior[]
Wyrdeer are usually seen as the elders and leaders of Stantler herds. Wyrdeers are responsible for protecting their herds' safety, using their antlers like dowsing rods to seek safe pathways through dangerous lands and trotting at the forefront with their younger kin following close behind.
Natural abilities[]
Wyrdeer can unleash psychic powers that are powerful enough to distort space through the black orbs at the base of their antlers. These black orbs glow uncannily when Wyrdeer erect invisible barriers.
Their antlers can also be used as antennae for their herds when they are searching for a safe route to travel in the wild.
Their fur are warm and can insulate heat, which is perfect for humans in making snug winter garments during the past.
Evolution[]
Wyrdeer evolves from Stantler that has used Psyshield Bash in Agile Style for twenty times.

The black orbs shine with an uncanny light when the Pokémon is erecting invisible barriers. The fur shed from its beard retains heat well and is a highly useful material for winter clothing.

Trivia[]
- Wyrdeer is alluded in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Pokédex entries for Stantler, on how Stantler had stronger psychic powers that helped them evolve in order to fend themselves from enemies.
Origin[]
Wyrdeer appears to be based on a reindeer just like its pre-evolution Stantler. However, it also appears to draw inspiration from the Yezo sika deer. The Yezo sika deer is both native to Hokkaido (the island Hisui/Sinnoh is based on) and is considered important to Hokkaido's indigenous people (much like how Wyrdeer is considered important to the people of Hisui/Sinnoh).
Its white eyebrows and beard somewhat make Wyrdeer resemble the beards of Ainu men, an elderly man and Santa Claus, the latter of which is stated in Western culture, who rides in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer and is well beloved by people.
Its shiny color of being green resembles Dr. Seuss’ character: The Grinch.
Wyrdeer's antlers also resemble radio antennae.
Etymology[]
Wyrdeer comes from wyrd (a concept in Anglo-Saxon culture pertaining to personal destiny), "weird", and "deer".
