Wimpod (Japanese: コソクムシ, HepburnKosokumushi) is a bug/water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII.

Biology

Physiology

Behavior

Wimpod are mostly timid and they'll usually run away when they see other Pokémon and people. However, they sometimes will get close to creatures they feel interested, especially the ones that aren't moving.

As they have a habit of storing things they've eaten, not only they're being seen as cleaners of the sea, but also this causes some greedy people and Pokémon like Murkrow hoping to steal the treasures, such as pearls, they have stored.

Natural abilities

Evolution

Wimpod evolves into Golisopod at level 30.

Trivia

  • Wimpod is the second Bug and Water-type Pokémon known to date following Surskit.
  • Wimpod is considered the Alolan counterpart to Magikarp due to their many similarities:
    • Both are one of the weakest Pokémon in each of their generations.
    • Both evolve into powerful Pokémon, Gyarados and Golisopod.
    • Both are hard to train due to their low base stats.

Origin

Etymology

Wimpod is a mixture of Wimp and Isopod.
