WildBrain is a children's entertainment studio based in Canada.
History[]
WildBrain, known for its vast independent library of children's television programming, has a rich history that began in 2006 under the name DHX Media. The company's roots can be traced back to several predecessors, including WildBrain Entertainment, Decode Entertainment, and the Halifax Film Company. Over the years, WildBrain has made strategic acquisitions to expand its portfolio, such as the Cookie Jar Group, Epitome Pictures, and a controlling stake in Peanuts Worldwide. In 2010, DHX Media purchased WildBrain Entertainment, marking a significant expansion into the U.S. market. The company underwent a rebranding in 2019, adopting the WildBrain name, which reflected its commitment to being a leader in children's entertainment. Throughout its evolution, WildBrain has been associated with beloved brands like Strawberry Shortcake and the Teletubbies, and it continues to grow, having recently acquired the animation studio House of Cool in 2023.
On August 21, 2024, WildBrain announced a partnership with The Pokémon Company International to launch FAST (free ad-supported television) channels for The Beginning, Gold and Silver , Ruby and Sapphire , Diamond and Pearl , Black and White , XY , and up to Sun and Moon , excluding Pokémon Journeys for now.[1] It will first be launched in the United States, followed by Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. There is no indicator of whether it will expand to non-English speaking countries as of yet.
