History[]
Bidoof's Wish[]
When Bidoof is cornered by Team Rouge, Wigglytuff comes to his rescue along with the rest of the guild. Afterward, Wigglytuff discovers a hidden passage that leads deeper into the cave and allows Bidoof to finish his exploration on his won. However, when Loudred points out that Wigglytuff could wish for all the Perfect Apples he wants from Jirachi, Wigglytuff changes his mind and tries to go after Bidoof and the rest of the guild struggles to hold him back.
Igglybuff the Prodigy[]
Even as an Igglybuff of young age, Wigglytuff was considered a prodigy in exploring by an Armaldo that he discovered and befriended. Seeing him as a mentor and friend, Igglybuff called him "master" repeatedly, even when Armaldo told him to stop. Much like his older and evolved self, he was very carefree and naïve to the point of befriending the local bullies, Skorupi and Banette.
One day, these bullies challenged him and his friends Smoochum, Wooper, and Budew in exploring Murky Forest; he was the only one who didn't back away and return home. The three explored Murky Forest until they came upon a cave that the locals believed was inhabited by a monster. As the "monster" approached, only Igglybuff stood his ground, and he even tried befriending the monster, which turned out to be an Armaldo. Armaldo at first was suspicious and somewhat annoyed with Igglybuff's antics, but later he revealed himself to be an explorer, which piqued Igglybuff's interest. Armaldo then showed him a treasure map which he was unable to decipher, explaining that he had never been able to figure it out; but when Igglybuff got a hold of the map, he ignited it on a nearby campfire, much to Armaldo's shock. However, Igglybuff revealed that he did so because he noticed that there were two layers in the map and the only way to make the map readable was by burning it. The map revealed that the treasure was located in Eastern Cave; Igglybuff was excited and was eager to join Armaldo in obtaining the treasure. Armaldo was reluctant at first, not wanting to leave his home, but eventually gave in.
The next day, Igglybuff visited Armaldo again and the two of them paired up to venture to Eastern Cave. As they reached the end of the cave, they came across a treasure chest that contained a Defend Globe, an exclusive item said to boost the power of the Bug type. Igglybuff was excited at their first success and began to call Armaldo his "master."
The two then went on many adventures; on one of their adventures, however, both of them were spotted by a Nidoking. Back in town, Igglybuff's friends noted on his disappearances and told his parents. The bullies claimed that he'd been disappearing into Murky Forest a lot lately, much to the shock and worry of everyone around him.
Eventually, Igglybuff and Armaldo came across and explored Fortune Ravine. However, Igglybuff's friends and family, along with the aforementioned Nidoking and Officer Magnezone, apprehended the two. Armaldo was revealed to be a B-Rank Outlaw, and gave into the arrest; Igglybuff, however, refused to believe that Armaldo was a criminal, and almost burst into a rage if not for Armaldo calming him down. Armaldo thanked Igglybuff for the happy times and believed that he would become a great explorer. As a parting gift, Armaldo gave him the Defend Globe from their first exploration, which Igglybuff, now a Wigglytuff, carries and treasures to this day.
Here Comes Team Charm![]
After Team Charm makes their way through Southern Jungle, they discover Wigglytuff ground after fainting from hunger. They give him a Perfect Apple and Wigglytuff awakens and after eating, introduces himself. He reveals that he fainted from hunger because he got lost and had all his food items stolen from him.
Team Charm meets up with Wigglytuff again when they are unable to figure the way forward in front of Right Cave Path and Left Cave Path. After hearing that both paths lead back to where the start, Wigglytuff wonders if there are paths that cannot be seen. He suddenly fumbles his Perfect Apple and follows it through an illusionary wall leading to Limestone Cavern.
After Team Charm and Team AWD finish their first fight, Wigglytuff intervenes before they can resume the fight. Weavile recognizes Wigglytuff as an explorer who has quickly gained reputation for being an exploration prodigy. He reveals that both sides have been tricked by a Ditto, the guardian of Boulder Quarry. Ditto admits he was the one who Wigglytuff's food and pitted Team Charm and Team AWD against each other with his transformation abilities. Ditto reveals that the treasure of Boulder Quarry is a Time Gear and knowing that they can't take it, the explorers leave empty handed. Afterward, Team Charm asks Wigglytuff to join them in their explorations, and even though Wigglytuff is hesitant at first, they manage to convince him by enticing him with another Perfect Apple.

Skuntank to this objects under the guise of the expedition having too many members, but Wigglytuff answers that having everyone go will be more fun and the surprise of the answer silences Skuntank. When Chatot announces he will travel with Wigglytuff to the base camp, Wigglytuff is disappointed at having to go with the uptight Chatot.
When all the expedition members reach the base camp, Chatot gives instructions on how the expedition will proceed and declares he and Wigglytuff will remain behind to gather intelligence. After the Player and Partner figure out the secret of the Groudon statue, Team Skull arrives to knock them and take the treasure for themselves, but Wiggly appears unexpectedly while chasing after a Perfect Apple he dropped and rolled away. Wigglytuff has the Player and Partner go ahead to Steam Cave and has Team Skull stay behind. Team Skull asks that they go to Steam Cave as well, but Wigglytuff refuses, not wanting to trouble his friends (unware he is doing that exactly) and Team Skull decides to knock out Wiggyltuff with their noxious gas combo and rob him of his personal treasure he keeps on him. However, Wigglytuff doesn't even notice their attack so they try to attack him directly, only to fail and be brutally defeated. He then rallies the guild to spread the truth and to search for clues about the Hidden Land.
After it is discovered that the Partner's Relic Fragment is the key to the Hidden Land, Wigglytuff reveals he and Chatot have it's pattern before in Brine Cave. He asks that Chatot stay behind due to the vicious bandits that inhabit the cave, but Chatot decides to go anyway and Wiggly puts him in charge of the expedition while he goes off on an important errand. Chatot apologizes for letting history repeat itself and Wigglytuff reveals that during their last visit to Brine Cave, Chatot shielded him from Kabutops' group when they ambushed them. If Chatot hadn't shielded him, Wigglytuff would have been knocked out and unable to defeat the group. Wigglytuff revealed Chatot save his life and is his invaluable partner. Chatot is overjoyed to hear this before passing out. Grovyle examines Chatot and reveals he will be okay if he is tended to quickly. Wigglytuff has an obsession with Perfect Apples, and is known for crying out loud if he does not get one every day, as feared by the other Guild members, particularly Chatot. This obsession is taken further with a Perfect Apple being placed as a "treasure" for the player's graduation exam. If Chatot hadn't shielded him, he would have been knocked out and unable to defeat bandits. Wigglytuff revealed Chatot save his life and he is his invaluable partner. Chatot is overjoyed to hear this before passing out. Grovyle examines Chatot and reveals he will be okay if he is tended to quickly. When the two return to the guild the treasure that was set at Luminous Springs (one of Wigglytuff's Perfect Apples) and Wigglytuff plays dumb about being the grandmaster of all things bad before declares the two have officially graduated.
Trivia[]
- Despite his temper and his feared power, the only damaging move he knows when battling against the player is Double Slap.
- However, this may have been due to the fact that Wigglytuff did not want to hurt the player or their partner.
- Wigglytuff in Super Mystery Dungeon has a gender paradox. While Armaldo refers to him as a male, his gender in Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, Chatot refers to him as a female.
