Wide Guard is a Rock-type move that is introduced in Generation V.

Description

BWB2W2 The user and its allies are protected from wide-ranging attacks for one turn. If used in succession, its chances of failing rises.

The user and its allies are protected from wide-ranging attacks for one turn.

Effect

Wide Guard protects all Pokémon on the user's side of the field from enemy attacks that can target multiple Pokémon (e.g. Earthquake) the turn it is used. The chance of success will decrease to 50% if it is used with Quick Guard, Detect, Protect, Endure, King's Shield or Spiky Shield consecutively. It’s effects are removed by the usage of Feint, Shadow Force, Hyperspace Hole/Fury,Phantom Force, or the ability Unseen Fist.

Z-Moves are reduced in power by 75%.

Trivia

  • There is a error in the code of a non updated copy of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon that causes it to block all Z moves instead of those with wide ranging targets. This was fixed in an update patch.
