Trivia
- It's Japanese name, Miruhog, may be a combination of meerkat (since it is shown to stand like one) and groundhog (from it's appearance. It's english name, Watchog, may be a combination of Watch (obviously) and once again, groundhog.
- Watchog was revealed on an Oha Suta trailer on July 29, 2010. It was officially revealed on the September issue of Coro Coro on August 8, 2010.
- Watchog's yellow stripes, which are said to "light up to threaten opponents", resemble reflective highway safety vests.
- So far every Generation (excluding Generation III) has had a rodent as one of the early Pokemon seen. These include Rattata & Raticate (Generation I and II), Bidoof & Bibarel (Generation IV), and Patrat & Watchog (Generation V).
