Upper Hand is a fighting-type move introduced in Generation IX.

Description[]

Games Description
SV The user reacts to the target's movement and strikes with the heel of its palm, making the target flinch. This move fails if the target is not readying a priority move.

Effect[]

Similar to Sucker Punch, Upper Hand only succeeds when the user is preparing an attacking move, though unlike Sucker Punch, this only applies to priority moves that have +1 to +3 priority (Upper Hand itself is +3), even if they're affected by abilities such as Gale Wings or Prankster. If Upper Hand connects, it flinches the opponent, much like Fake Out.
