Biography
Tyson used his Metagross when he and the heroes encountered Team Rocket, who stole the torch. Metagross used Confusion to pull Team Rocket's balloon, preventing them from escaping. Metagross used Confusion once more on Ash Ketchum to soften his landing after he jumped to catch the torch.[1] Before his battle against Ash, Tyson gave all his Pokémon a speech, saying that they needed to give their best to defeat Ash's Pokémon, and all his Pokémon started to train for the battle.[2]

Swellow then used Quick Attack and Metagross was able to dodge the attack, using Hyper Beam to defeat Swellow. Metagross faced Ash's Grovyle next and Grovyle used Bullet Seed on Metagross' scar. Metagross charged in after the attack and used Hyper Beam but Grovyle was able to dodge the attack, countering with Bullet Seed which landed. Grovyle used Leaf Blade, so Metagross countered with Meteor Mash which was able to defeat Grovyle. Metagross then faced Ash's Pikachu, who used Thunderbolt immediately. Metagross used Psychic but Pikachu dodged the attack and use Iron Tail on Metagross. Pikachu then went on Metagross and used Thunder, defeating the latter in the process.[3]
