Effect[]
Trick-or-Treat adds the target's type with the Ghost-type, regardless of whether it is a dual typed Pokémon. Due to this, as long as the foe has no type that resists Ghost-type moves, this move can be used along with a damaging Ghost-type to deal super effective damage to a Pokémon who would initially not be weak to Ghost.
If the Pokémon already has its type changed as an effect of a different move that also changes type, like Soak or Forest's Curse, that type is replaced by the Ghost-type. The added Ghost type will remain until the Pokémon either leaves battle or if a different move that changes type as an effect is used.
Trick-or-Treat will fail if the targeted Pokémon is already a Ghost-type.
Bold indicates this Pokémon receives STAB from this move. Italic indicates an evolved or alternate form of this Pokémon receives STAB from this move.
Trivia[]
Using Trick-or-Treat on a dual-type Pokémon that is not naturally Ghost-type, along with using Forest's Curse on a dual-type Pokémon that is not naturally Grass-type, are the only possible situations where a Pokémon may have three types.
Unlike Forest's Curse, a Pokémon affected by this move Trick-or-Treat have a triple weakness outside of Inverse Battles.
