Tower of Mastery is a tower located in Shalour City in the Kalos region. It is currently run by Gurkinn and the successor is Korrina. It is where the player can receive one of Korrina's Lucario and the Mega Ring at the top of the tower after the player defeats her at the Shalour City Gym and then, tested with Lucario against Korrina's other Lucario.
The origins of the Mega Evolution first began when a Trainer came to Kalos, accompanied by a Lucario, and found 2 strange stones. One of them reacted to the Trainer's Lucario resulting in the first Mega Evolution in history.
Pokémon X and Y
The player can access the Tower of Mastery after reaching Shalour City. The main quest of Pokémon X and Y goes through The Tower of Mastery. The player heads to the Tower of Mastery on the advice of their friends. On the way, the player is stopped by Tierno and he gives the player an Intriguing Stone. When player enters the Tower of Mastery, the only area accessible is Mega Evolution Guru's room while the stairs entrance is blocked by a Trainer stating that player cannot access as they have not been 'certified'.
When player enters Mega Evolution Guru's room, he asks the player if they have found the Intriguing Stone. If the player lies, the same question is asked again and if the player tells the truth, Mega Evolution Guru goes out of his room and the group (Player, Rival, Tierno, Shauna and Trevor) gather there to learn more about Mega Evolution.
Mega Evolution offers a Mega Ring to the group but since there was only one, Shauna, Trevor and Tierno pass and player and rival battle for the Mega Ring. After the player defeats the rival, the Gym of Shalour City becomes accessible. After defeating Gym Leader Korrina, the player is asked to reach the top of Tower of Mastery. The trainer blocking the stairs now allows player to proceed. Multiple rooms are situated on the way to the top. On the top of the tower, Korrina awaits with her two Lucario. She gives player the Mega Ring and asks them to battle her with one of her Lucario as their Pokémon. The player has to battle her with the Lucario and after her defeat, she offers her Lucario to the player. The player can either accept or deny the Lucario.
