Biology
Physiology
Togedemaru is a small, grey and round mouse-like Pokémon. It has a long grey tail resembling a lightning bolt with a yellow tip. It has three flat triangular spike-like flaps on each side of its body. On both sides, two of its flaps are yellow with the middle flap being brown. It's face plate is cover with white fur reaching down to its legs and feet, with its ears at the upper tips of its face plate. There are round yellow circles on its cheeks used for storing electricity. Its arms are stubby and are located around the middle of its face plate.

Trivia
- Togedemaru has the most Egg-Moves of all Generation VII Pokémon with 9.
- In Super Smash Bros., Togedemaru is one of the Pokémon that can be freed from Poké Balls. During this time, it uses the move Zing Zap.
Origin
Togedemaru is likely based on a hedgehog, hamster, porcupine or a Ryukyu Spiny Rat. It continues the pattern of electric-type rodent Pokémon like Pikachu, Pichu, Raichu, Plusle and Minun, Pachirisu, Emolga, and Dedenne before it.
Etymology
Togedemaru is the same name in every language, meaning that it has Japanese origin. It might come from "toge" (spiky), "denki" (electric) and "maru" (round). It could also come from "toge de maru" (spiked and round). It may also come from togenezumi, the Japanese name for the Ryukyu Spiny Rat.
Names in other languages
- English, French, German, Italian and Spanish: Togedemaru
- Chinese: 托戈德玛尔(Mainland, simplified); 托戈德瑪爾 (Mainland, traditional/ Taiwan)
- Korean: 토게데마루
