    Trivia[]

    • Toedscool is tied with Baltoy for the lowest base attack of all Ground types.
    • Toedscool has the same exact base stat distribution as Tentacool, even when it evolves.
    • Internal game files has Toedscool being referred to as "OKAKINGU", making it likely to have been a convergent form of Magikarp that got scrapped.

    Origin[]

Toedscool is based on a wood ear mushroom. It looking similar to Tentacool is based on the idea of convergent evolution, where two separate organisms independently develop similar characteristics. The reasoning behind the choice of a mushroom based Tentacool may be due to the wood ear being named 木耳 / キクラゲ kikurage , which roughly translates to "tree jellyfish".

    Etymology[]

Toedscool may come from 'toed' ("Toe", having toes), andTentacool. It may also involve toadstool.
