Plot[]
One night at the guild, Chimecho catches Sunflora writing in her new diary, much to her embarrassment. Sunflora narrates her life and adventures at the guild through the diary.
Sunflora loves her live at the guild, and even though she struggles with confidence, Wigglytuff praises her exploration work. She gets along great with her guildmates and glad to work with them. However, she recently has been having trouble with Loudred due to him ignoring her warnings and charging recklessly into dungeons, which resulted in them being knocked out. Since then, the two have failed to get along because of their stubbornness.
Chatot calls Sunflora in for an important discussion and Sunflora is taken to a meeting with Wigglytuff, Chatot, and Officer Magnezone. Chatot explains that Magnezone has requested a favor for capturing a difficult outlaw, who has eluded every attempt to capture him. The outlaw is Haunter, an "S" Rank criminal whose alias is the "Invincible Haunter." He got this alias to due his ability to get back up after being knocked out and Magnezone has requested the guild to send explorers to finally capture Haunter. Wigglytuff recommend Sunflora for the mission because her abilities stood out above the rest of the guild. However, Sunflora has to go alone because the rest of the guild is busy, but Sunflora assures everyone she can complete the mission. Magnezone reveals Haunter has fled to Spring Cave and Wigglyutff warns Sunflora that Spring Cave is close to the Hot Spring and that means lava flows below it and it is likely that Fire-type Pokémon are there, a type Sunflora is weak against. In addition, Haunter is part Poison-type, another type Sunflora is weak against, and Sunflora decides to be cautious when entering the dungeon.
Sunflora enters Spring Cave and quickly finds Haunter, who recognizes Sunflora is an explorer. Sunflora declares she will arrest Haunter, but Haunter laughs this off and reveals all adventurers who have gone after him have given up. Sunflora manages to defeat Haunter and knock him out, but a bright flash envelops the room and when it clears, Haunter is back to full strength. Haunter boasts he's invincible and no matter how much Sunflora fights, she will only wear herself out and be defeated in the end. Haunter disappears deeper into the cave and Sunflora refuses to give up and decides to go after Haunter again. However, she begins to wonder what the reason for Haunter's invincibility is.
Sunflora finds Haunter again in Middle Spring Cave and declares she will arrest him, despite his so-called invincibility. Haunter is knocked once again, but another blinding flash of light goes off. When it clears Haunter is again back to full strength and Sunflora wonders how Haunter could get back up immediately after being knocked out. Two Slugma surround Sunflora and Haunter reveals he hired them to deal with Sunflora because they are fire types. Haunter disappears again and the Slugma attack Sunflora, who tries to flee them, but is soon cornered. Before the Slugma can attack again, Loudred appears and fends them off, causing the Slugma to flee. Loudred asks Sunflora if she's okay and she answers she's fine. Loudred comments that it wasn't like Sunflora to get cornered like that, but attributes it to her being tired from battling Haunter and since he just arrived, he was full strength. Sunflora and then asks Loudred what he's doing in Spring Cave and Loudred explains that Chatot sent him to check on her, but Sunflora is upset that the only reason he helped. This leads to the two quickly butting heads again and Loudred storms off. Sunflora regrets the way she spoke to Loudred, as she was really grateful he saved her, but was unable to admit it. Sunflora then remembers Loudred's earlier comments and realizes he was being sincere about being glad she was okay. She also remembers his comment about just arriving at the battle allowing him to be at full power while Sunflora was exhausted after battling and through them, realizes the trick behind Haunter's supposed invincibility.
As Sunflora continues to hunt Haunter, he takes notice of Sunflora's persistence and decides to run somewhere she will be at a disadvantage. Sunflora finds Haunter in the deepest part, but Haunter once again boasts he is invincible. However, Sunflora reveals she knows the secret behind Haunter's invincibility and attacks him with Razor Leaf, revealing two more Haunter were hiding next to the first. Sunflora deduced that whenever she defeated Haunter, there was a flash of light that blinded her, during that brief flash, one the Haunters would hide the fainted Haunter while the final one took his place, creating the illusion that Haunter was invincible. The Haunters used this trick into deceive exploration teams into thinking that defeating them was impossible and give up hunting them. With their secret discovered, the Haunters declare they can't let Sunflora escape, and lava begins eruption from the ground, heating the ground and burning Sunflora. The Haunters reveal that they are in the pit of Spring Cave where lava flows and they tricked Sunflora into coming there so they could defeat her. Before the Haunters can attack, Loudred appears again and pushes them back. Sunflora is shocked Loudred returned, but Loudred tells her to put it aside and the two battle the Haunter trio.
The two defeat all three Haunter, arrest them, and return them to the guild. There, Magnezone thanks Sunflora for finally capturing the "Invincible Haunter" and admits he is surprised there were actually three Pokémon at work. Sunflora is praised for seeing through their deception and capturing all the Haunter and Magnezone gives her a Sun Scarf to help her deal with her weakness to Fire-types. After Magnezone takes away the apprehended Haunter, Chatot congratulates Sunflora on a job well done, but Sunflora admits she had help from Loudred and notices he's absent. Chatot reveals he skipped his chores and snuck off without permission, so he was punished with fetching Perfect Apples from Apple Woods. Sunflora realizes Loudred truly did come to help her on his own and tells Chatot what happened. After learning what really happened, Chatot admits Loudred also deserves recognition for capturing the Haunter, but he still has to face punishment for breaking guild regulations.
That night, Sunflora writes in her diary that she needs to apologize to Loudred and wishes she could take back the fight they had. She wonders if Loudred will agree to explore with her again and that if the two could be friends again. She decides to speak to Loudred when he gets back, apologize to him, and say the words she was too stubborn to say before: "Thank you".

Notes[]
- The player can take money and items from Kangaskhan Storage and Duskull Bank that were stored there during the main storyline. All items and money received during the episode will be stored there at the end.
- This episode takes place simultaneously with the player and partner's exploration of Waterfall Cave.
- Due to Sunflora using the move to reveal the presence of multiple Haunter, the Player isn't allowed to make Sunflora forget Razor Leaf.
- Although Sunflora can use Leaf Storm—a move which it cannot legitimately learn by any means prior to Level 43–in the battle where the guild confronts Team Rogue to save Bidoof in Bidoof's Wish, it is at a much lower level here, even though that episode comes before this one.
