Effect

Originally, it deals damage and has a 10% chance to paralysed non electric types. It could paralyze electric types In generation II-V, but returned to being unable to paralyze electric types In Generation VI, due to the type being immune to paralysis.
In generation II, The paralyze chance is buffed to 30%.
Thunder never misses in heavy rain, but has 50% accuracy in intense sunlight. It may also paralyze the target. It also hits Pokémon that are in the semi invulnerable turn of Fly, Bounce or Sky Drop.
