The Tanoby Key (Japanese: アスカナのかぎ, Hepburn: Asukana Key) is a location in Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version.
Description[]
Tanoby Key is a single-room cave located within Sevault Canyon on Seven Island. It features a puzzle that involves the player using Strength to push boulders into their respective holes. Three boulders are located next to each other at the top, while short columns of two boulders are near the bottom. If the player makes a mistake and cannot finish the puzzle, they can reset it by exiting then re-entering the area. When the puzzle is completed, a distant rumble is heard, and wild Unown start to appear in the Tanoby Chambers.
To solve the puzzle, the player has to first move the top middle boulder upward until they can no longer do so. The top left and the top right boulders are moved to the slots at the very top on the left and right side, respectively; this is so that they can access the space between the two large, unmovable boulders at the top, otherwise the player cannot move them again. The two boulders at the bottom are then moved to the two open slots at the very bottom as well, but the boulders have to be moved out and then upward, not towards the center. The last two boulders can then be moved to the two remaining slots to complete the puzzle.

Manga[]
Tanibo Key is only ever mentioned in Pokémon Adventures, more specifically by Sird in "Some Things Are Better Left Unown". Sird claims that she solved the puzzle, which awakened a horde of Unown from the Tanoby Chambers. With the Unown, Sird was able to defeat Lorelei on Seven Island.
