Take Down is a Normal-type move introduced in Generation I that inflicts damage to the user after successful usage. It has been TM09 since Generation I. In Generation IX, it is TM001 for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Take Down deals damage, which will deal 1/4 of the damage back to the user.

Calculating the recoil damage after it hits:

Where:

  • ν (nu) is the damage recoil calculation
  • β_current (beta) is the user's current HP
  • rand(90) is the randomised damage from Take Down between 1 to 90.

For instance, if Take Down deals exactly 90 damage with the Pokémon's current HP being 216, the HP calculated after it hits:
