Sky (Japanese(そら)HepburnSora) is the 7th episode of Pokémon: Twilight Wings.

Synopsis[]

The day of Leon's Championship match has arrived, and thanks to John's letter, all the kids at the hospital are invited to attend! But in his excitement, John oversleeps and almost misses his chance to go to the stadium. Will he be able to make it to the battle in time?[1]

Episode plot[]

The Gym Leaders comment on Leon's fighting style: while he is incredibly strong, they sometimes feel like he is just playing around. Tommy watches Leon on TV, and tries to get John interested in watching along, who is reading a book. As Chairman Rose makes an interview, John notices Leon smiling on TV, which confuses Tommy to that remark. After the boys continue to spend the day with one another, John receives a special letter, which excites him a lot. Suddenly, he finds himself in a hall, with Leon in front of him. John walks to him, and extends his arm, attempting to reach him.

However, John wakes up, for this was all a dream. He tries to get his bearings, until the nurse rushes in, reminding him of the day. John immediately gets on his feet and dashes away, seeing many taxi drivers flying away, though he forgets to bring the letter. The nurse accompanies John to the taxi driver, and wishes him to have a good time. John nods, and asks the driver if they will make it to the match in time. The driver confirms this, as he and his Corviknight are the fastest ones in the Galar region. Later, the driver struggles to make it past the winds. John looks around, fascinated by many Pokémon, until he sees a glimpse of Leon at a piece of field. In that moment, John asks of the driver to land down.

With many children present at the back of the stadium, the medical officers notice John is not around, and know he is not the type to be late for this event. Chairman Rose is surprised, and as Oleana reports that Leon has not arrived yet, the chairman simply shrugs. The driver and John are at the field with Leon, who admits he got lost a bit. The driver is in shock as how Leon got lost, while John is fascinated to see Leon. The latter does not wish to tire Charizard out by riding it, so he asks the driver to give him a lift. As the driver is supposed to take John to the stadium, he instead lets Leon ride Corviknight, who could return to the driver later. Leon is grateful, though he smiles when he looks at John.

John and Leon ride Corviknight in the sky. Leon asks John if he is cold, but the latter denies. Leon suspects John overslept, and admits he sometimes does that, too. John gathers confidence to admit he wants to see Leon's battle in person. Moved by these words, Leon has Corviknight speed up. Despite moving at a great speed, John laughs, for he is not afraid of this. Leon admits John is a strange kid, but agrees with him, for he is not afraid of flying, either. At the stadium, at evening, the people are still waiting for the Champion to arrive. The staff go to visit his locker room, but Chairman Rose notices him atop of Corviknight, entering the stadium. Rose snaps his fingers, turning on the lights, and announces the start of the match.

Leon descends from Corviknight, and some of the audience notice John with him, too. Leon takes some steps ahead, then notes that John's dream is not just to watch him battle, but also to become a Pokémon Trainer. John extends his arm to touch Leon, who grabs him by his hand: he offers John a battle the next time they meet, but he won't hold back. John is very fascinated by Leon's words, though Leon gets called out by his opponent for being late. His opponent admits he thought Leon would cancel the match, who makes a pose to announce the start of the battle. John looks at this, and starts to cry. However, he wipes his tears off, proud to watch this glorious battle. Many people watch this event, with Leon throwing away his cape.

The opponent's Goodra splashes Leon's Aegislash. Next, Flygon flies off to avoid Leon's Pokémon's projectiles it fired. In the final match, Leon throws his giant Poké Ball to enlargen his Charizard to face his opponent's Gigantamaxed Pokémon. John barely stands at the ground from the giant Pokémon's impact, though Leon proudly smiles at him. Charizard launches flames against the Pokémon, who deflects the attack. As Charizard makes its next move, John promises he will become a Pokémon Trainer someday.

At morning, the taxi driver laughs, reading news about Leon. Suddenly, he is asked by a male and a female Trainer to give them a lift. Meanwhile, the Corviknight soars on the sky above.
