TB001: Pokémon - I Choose You!/Transcript

[Opening theme: Aim to Be a Pokémon Master]

Pre-Title Card Act

[Just like the old Pokémon games, the opening, in which you can see Gengar and Nidorino fighting it out. An audience is cheering on the two contesting Pokémon]

ANNOUNCER

(offscreen) And Nidorino begins the battle with a Horn Attack. Oh, but Gengar bounces right back!

[Gengar uses Hypnosis]

And there it is, the hypnosis power-up Gengar! This could be the end of the arena.

[The trainer recalls Gengar in the Poké Ball]

Wait, the trainer recalled Nidorino. Which Pokémon will be used now?

[The trainer throws his Poké Ball and unleashes his Onix]

Oh it's Onix!

Now this giant Pokémon phobia packed! Oh oh

[The scene reveals to be television and zooms out]

But Gengar jumps aside, Gengar is moving beautifully today, it's training has come (more muffled voice that we can't understand)

[Ash Ketchum is in his room and right now is putting his finger-exposed glove on]

ASH

(voiceover) Yes, I am Ash!

NARRATOR

Ash Ketchum is a boy from Pallet Town.

ASH

(voiceover; tying his shoelaces) And now that I'm 10, I can finally get my Pokémon

NARRATOR

10 year olds can get a beginner Pokémon, [close-up of a post on Ash's wall of Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander] from Professor Oak, the town's Pokémon expert

ASH

I will journey to gain the wisdom of training, (picks up a Voltorb model) and I hereby declare to the Pokémon of the world, I will be a Pokémon master! Pokémon master, that is what I'll-

DELIA (ASH'S MOTHER)

(offscreen) ASH, GET TO BED!

[Ash gets struck due to his Mom's raised voice, in which his Voltorb toy flies into his Mom's hand and half of the Voltorb toy opens in a 90 degree angle, revealing it to actually be an alarm clock and a small model of Pidgeotto is ticking from the alarm clock]

It's 11 o'clock and you should be asleep

ASH

But tomorrow I begin my Pokémon journey, I can't sleep

DELIA

Well if you can't sleep, you should at least get ready for tomorrow, here watch this (changes the channel to a channel with Professor Oak on with pictures of Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur)

OAK (ON TELEVISION)

Good evening Pallets. Tomorrows the big day for the newest class of Pokémon students, I'd like to introduce you to Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Each one is available for new trainees, which one shall you choose?

DELIA

Go to bed when this is done

ASH

Alright, I'm going

DELIA

And change into your pajamas, okay?

ASH

I'm going

[Title Card: Pokémon - I Choose You!]

First Act

ASH

(talking in his sleep) Raising Bulbasaur... Bed be really simple. It's perfect for beginners

(in a daydream; throwing a Pokéball) I choose you, Bulbasaur!

[The Pokéball unleashes Bulbasaur]

(real life point-of-view; in sleep) There's Squirtle

(in a daydream; throwing a Pokéball) I choose you, Squirtle!

[The Pokéball unleashes Squirtle]

(real life point-of-view; in sleep) Choose it or lose it (lies back)

[Daytime rises]

(still in sleep) Hold on

(daydream voiceover) Charmander, those in the no say that's the best way to go. (throwing a Pokéball in daydream) I choose you, Charmander!

[Ash wakes up, realizing his alarm clocks have hit the wall and starting to remember about the Pokémon selection]

Oh no! What time is it?

[The scene is now at Ash outside running to Professor Oak's lab in his pajamas]

(panting) - Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, anyone's fine, just please, save one for me

[Outside Professor Oak's lab]

CHEERLEADERS

(chanting) Gary, Gary, he's a man and if he can't do it, no one can. Gary Gary, he's a-

ASH

(coming through the cheerleaders) Sorry, excuse me (bumps into Gary and trips over)

GARY

Hey, watch where you're going. Well you must be Ash, better late than never I guess. At least you get the chance to meet me

ASH

Gary?

GARY

Mr. Gary to you, show some respect. Well Ash, you snooze you lose and you're way behind right from the start, I've got a Pokémon and you don't

ASH

You've got your first Pokémon?

GARY

That's right loser, and it's right inside this Pokéball

CHEERLEADERS

Let's go Gary, Lets go, yeah yeah (chatter in the background)

GARY

Thank you fans, thank you all for this great honour, I promise you all that I will become a Pokémon master and make the town of Pallet know all 'round the world

[Cheering in the background]

ASH

Excuse me - I was just wondering if you could tell me what type of Pokémon you got

GARY

None of your business, if you showed up on time, you would've seen that I got the best Pokémon from Professor Oak, it's good to have a grandfather in the Pokémon business isn't it? Thank you for coming out to see history in the making, now I, Gary Oak, is off to learn the ways of the Pokémon trainer

[Gary wonders away with the fans]

ASH

(growls) I'll show you

OAK

(comes from inside) So, you've decided to show up after all

ASH

Oh, Professor Oak, where's my Pokémon?

PROFESSR OAK

Your Pokémon?

ASH

Yes, I'm ready

OAK

(commenting on his pajamas) Sure looks like you're ready for bed, not Pokémon training. I hope you don't think you're going to train in your pajamas

ASH

Oh no, Professor, I got messed up this morning and I was a little late, but believe me, I'm ready for a Pokémon

[Ash and Professor Oak are in his lab, where Professor Oak has Pokéballs on the ready]

ASH

I thought about it a lot, and it took me a long time, (picks up Pokéball) but I finally decided to choose Squirtle!

[Pokéball is empty]

OAK

Already taken by someone who was on time

ASH

(groans) I wish I hadn't overslept, (grabs another Pokéball) but now I will choose as my Pokémon, Bulbasaur

[Pokéball empty again]

OAK

That one was also taken by a kid who wasn't late

ASH

(groans) Well that's no problem. Because my Pokémon will be Charmander

[Pokéball empty again]

OAK

The early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the Pokéball

ASH

Does that mean all the Pokémon are gone?

OAK

Well there is still one left, but I...

ASH

Professor, I'll take it!

[A fourth Pokéball pops out from the middle of the machine]

OAK

(grabs Pokéball) I think I should warn you, there is a problem with this last one

ASH

I have to have a Pokémon

OAK

Well in that case (gives the Pokéball to Ash)

[The second the Pokéball opens, electricity weaves out of it - then a Pikachu pops out]

PIKACHU

Pikachu

OAK

It's name is Pikachu

ASH

Oh, it's so cute, it's the best of all!

OAK

You'll see

ASH

(picks up Pikachu) OH, hi Pikachu!

PIKACHU

(cheeks sparking with electricity) Pika!

[Pikachu ends up electrocuting Ash]

PROFFESSOR OAK

It's also known as an electric mouse, usually shy but can have an electrifying personality

ASH

I see what you mean

OAK

Shocking isn't it. (handing out 6 Pokéballs and Pokédex) Now take these, your Pokédex and Pokéballs

ASH

Thank... (him and Oak electrocuted by Pikachu) YOUUUUUU!!

OAK

(grunting) YOU'RE WELCOMMMME!! (grunting more)

[Outside you can see a crowd of people, including Delia holding a parade for Ash's journey]

ASH

Mom?

DELIA

Oh Ash, I am so proud of you. You're finally going to fulfil your dreams and start your Pokémon training, but I... I'm gonna miss you so much, (sobbing) oh, my little boy!

PIKACHU

Pikachu

DELIA

(opens bag of stuff for Ash and handing it to him) I've packed your sneakers and jeans, nice clean shirts and some underwear, and your favourite snacks and some hot chocolate in case you want something hot, but be careful not to burn yourself, and a pair of rubber gloves to do your laundry, and a new clothesline to hang it out to dry...

ASH

(grabs bag) Mom, you're embarrassing me, in front of all these people. Don't you know I'm a big kid now, Pokémon trainers can take care of theirselves

DELIA

I understand. (looks at Pikachu) That's your Pokémon?

PIKACHU

Pikachu

ASH

Yep, that's my Pokémon

PIKACHU

(faces away abruptly) Pi...

ASH

With Pikachu at my side, I'll get all the Pokémon in the world!

DELIA

I thought all Pokémon stayed inside their Pokéballs, why doesn't this one?

ASH

Uhhh, oh yeah, right. (gets out Pokéball) Pikachu, get in the ball now

[Ash throws the Pokéball on Pikachu to make him return in the Pokéball, but Pikachu whacks it back to Ash's hand with his tail - Ash then is continously throwing the Pokéball at Pikachu, for Pikachu to just whack it back at his hand]

DELIA

Oh, you're playing catch, your friends already!

ASH

Uh, sure - (picks up Pikachu) Pikachu and I are real pals, right?

DELIA

But it's a little weird

ASH

Weird?

[Pikachu then shocks everyone except Oak with his electricity]

OAK

Those rubber gloves your mom packed will come in handy

ASH

(grunting) Why?

OAK

Rubber gloves block electricity

ASH

GRRREEEAAT!

[The electric shock stops and the crowd falls over and becomes unconscious, except Delia, who has some consciousness left]

DELIA

Don't forget to change your underwear... every single day

ASH

Okay

---

[Ash, who is now in his normal clothing, is walking on cave grounds and pulling Pikachu with him using a leash, with Pikachu uncomfortable]

ASH

(stops walking; sighs) Pikachu, are you gonna be like this, the whole way?

PIKACHU

(abruptly) Pi!

ASH

Is it 'cause you don't like me?

PIKACHU

(nods his head) Pi!

ASH

Well I like you a lot. An since your the Pokémon I'm training, don't you think you could be little nicer and open your mouth and tell me what's wrong?

PIKACHU

(opens mouth)

ASH

That's not exactly... what I meant. Is your name all you can say?

PIKACHU

(nods his head) Pika

ASH

Well then, you're just like all Pokémon and get inside the Pokéball, (gets out Pokédex) just like it says in the Pokédex

POKÈDEX

While being trained, Pokémon usually stays inside it's Pokéball

ASH

You see?

PIKACHU

Pika!

POKÈDEX

However, there are many exceptions, some Pokémon hate being confined

ASH

Okay then. (takes off leash) This oughta make it better, (takes off rubber gloves) and I'll get rid of these. How's that

PIKACHU

Pi!

ASH

Still not good enough?

PIKACHU

Pika!

ASH

(sighs)

[Suddenly, in the screen, a Pokémon with bird feet are walking towards Ash and Pikachu]

Huh?

[The Pokémon reveals to be a Pidgey]

A Pidgey? (gets out Pokédex)

POKÈDEX

Pidgey is a Flying Pokémon, among all the Flying Pokémon, it is the gentlest and easiest to capture, a perfect target for a beginning Pokémon trainer to test this Pokémon's skills

ASH

This is great, it's my lucky day! Pikachu, go get it!

PIKACHU

(refuses) Chu!

ASH

Aren't you every gonna listen to me?

PIKACHU

Chu

ASH

But why not?

[Pikachu climbs up a tree and stands on the branch]

PIKACHU

Chaaa!

ASH

Okay, I get the message, I don't want your help or need it, I can get that thing all by myself!

Second Act

[Ash throws his bag on the tree and unleashes his Pokéball]

ASH

Alright, I've pledged to get all the Pokémon in the world, now I'm ready to take the next step to become the number #1 Pokémon master! - Enjoy your last moments of freeddom Pidgey, 'cause you're mine!

(turns his cap backwards) Pokéball, go! (throws Pokéball at Pidgey)

[The Pokéball manages to capture Pidgey in the Pokéball...]

I did it! Huh?

[...but the Pokéball is wiggling... and the Pokéball bounces back in Ash's hand, as Pidgey was successful in escaping and the latter wonders off]

I blew it

PIKACHU

(laughing)

POKÈDEX

To capture a Pokémon, you usually have your own Pokémon battle with the other

ASH

Now it tells me

[Pikachu laughing]

But now I have to do everything myself! - Wait, I've got an idea

[Then, Ash is walking slowly trying to surprise attack Pidgey]

Okay, just be quiet, there's nothing to be afraid of.

[Then Ash comes across the Pidgey and is holding his pajama top]

(nervously) Hi little friend. (surprise attack) SORRY BUDDY! (traps the Pidgey with his pajama top)

[...but then - Pidgey manages to escape using a tornado attack that spins Ash]

(groans) What happened?

POKÈDEX

Pidgey's gust powers create's tornados, it also has a Sand Attack

ASH

Sand? (gets caught up in Pidgey's sand attack and coughs) - Guess it's not my lucky day

[Pikachu giggling]

Mmm. Hey!

[A Rattata is going through Ash's bag]

Get out of there!

[The Rattata runs away]

'POKÈDEX

A Forest Pokémon, Rattata, it likes cheese, nuts, fruits and berries

ASH

Yeah, but this isn't a forest, it's an open field!

POKÈDEX

They also comes out into open fields to steal food from stupid travellers

ASH

That means I'm stupid?

[Pikachu laughing]

(heard bird noise) Hmm?

[Three Pidgey's heads pop out from the bushes. Ash throws a small rock at them, making them fly away]

(sighs) Hmm? (spots a bird's shadow nearby) Now I'll get you this time (throws small rock at the bird) I got it!

[The bird reveals to be a Spearow and a bump comes on it's head]

I wonder what that is? (gets out Pokédex)

POKÈDEX

Unlike Pidgey, Spearow has a terrible attitude, it is very wild and will sometimes attack other Pokémon and humans

[Ash gets nervous and the Spearow starts flying after him and the former starts running away - he then jumps on his bag and the Spearow is continously flying through Ash. Then, the Spearow starts aiming for Pikachu and flying through the latter]

ASH

Hey, leave Pikachu alone, it didn't throw the rock!'

POKÈDEX

Wild Pokémon tend to be jealous of human trained Pokémon

ASH

Oh

PIKACHU

(getting afraid of Spearow) Pikachu! - Pi!

[Then the Spearow is heading for Pikachu again]

ASH

Pikachu!'

[Pikachu uses Thunder Shock from his back to the Spearow, knocking out the latter]

You got it!

SPEAROW

(regains consciousness; calling for help) SPEAROW!

[Then multiple Spearow start coming]

ASH

(getting nervous; to Pikachu) Should we run?

PIKACHU

(nods head')

Pikachu

[Then Ash and Pikachu start running away from the Spearow - while running past some Sandshrew and Mankeys]

ASH

(groaning nervously) Don't worry Pikachu, no matter what, I'll save you!

PIKACHU

(runs ahead Ash) Pikachu!

ASH

Don't run ahead, I said I'd protect- (Spearow bumps into him) Ow!

[Two Spearow start hurting Pikachu with their beaks]

Leave it alone, Spearows!

[Pikachu unconsciously falls]

Pikachu! (picks up his Pikachu and continues running away - then he stops at a waterfall) Here we go! (jumps into the waterfall)

[Ash is swimming through - then he comes across a Gyarados and swims away from it]

[We then see Misty fishing with her fishing rod - then she manages to catch one]

MISTY

Hey, I got a pike, wow, I really didn't this could be a big one!

[However, instead, it is just Ash and Pikachu and they fall on surface - Ash is coughing the water out of him]

That's just a kid, (notices Pikachu) oh, and a Pokémon, oh are you okay?

ASH

Yeah, I'm okay

MISTY

Not you, look what you've done to that poor little thing! IS it breathing

ASH

Uh... uh... I think so

MISTY

Well just don't sit there, it needs a doctor right away, there's a medical center not too far from here, you've got to get moving now!

ASH

You mean a hospital?

MISTY

Yes, for Pokémon

ASH

Um, can you tell me, which way do I go?

MISTY

(points to her right) That way (her and Ash turn to the wild Spearow heading toward them)

ASH

They're coming back, run! (goes towards Misty's bike and puts Pikachu in the front basket)

MISTY

Hey, what are you doing?

ASH

I'm borrowing this (rides away)

MISTY

Wha- Hey, that's my bike!

ASH

I'll give it back someday!

MISTY

Oh, you!

[Ash is riding the bike and the clouds go dark and it becomes stormy]

PIKACHU

(unconsciously) Pik...a...chu

ASH

Just hang on now Pikachu, we're almost there!

[Then the rain starts to come and the Spearows catch up with them - Suddenly, Ash rides the bike through a ground of mud and slips over]

(groans) Huh? (looks at Pikachu) Pikachu! (crawls toward Pikachu - puts his hand on Pikachu) Pikachu, this can't happen - (gets out Pokéball) Pikachu, get inside.

PIKACHU

Chu!

ASH

I know you're afraid of going in there, but if you're inside, maybe I can save you, please Pikachu, please listen to me and go inside, after that then... after that, just trust me! (puts the Pokéball next to Pikachu)

Spearows, do you know who I am? I'm Ash from the town of Pallet, I'm destined to be the world's number #1 Pokémon master! I can't be defeated by the likes of you! - I'm going to capture and defeat you all, you hear me? Pikachu, go inside the Pokéball, it's the only way!

Come and get me!

[The Spearows are flying toward Ash - then Pikachu regains consciousness and creates an electrical explosion that clears away the Spearows. And then the storm stops and daylight returns]

[Then, you can see Ash and Pikachu on the floor, worn out from that electrical bang, they quickly regain consciousness]

PIKACHU

Pikachu

ASH

Well, we beat 'em

PIKACHU

Chu!

[Pikachu and Ash can see a golden Pokémon bird flying]

'ASH

What's that?

POKÈDEX

There is no data, there are still Pokémon yet to be identified

NARRATOR

This is just the beginning of the amazing adventures of Ash and Pikachu.

[Scene switch to Ash walking with Pikachu in his hands]

Their journey is destined to be packed with nonstop action, millions of laughs, arch-pounding perils and endless excitement.
