Swoobat (Japanese: ココロモリ Kokoromori) is a Psychic/Flying type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology

Physiology

Swoobat is a large fuzzy bat-like Pokémon. It shares many traits with its pre-evolution Woobat. It sports just a slightly larger pair of wings and they share a heart-shaped nostril on their noses. However, Swoobat is a much darker shade of blue and has a clear pair of eyes, fused-together ears, and legs. It also has a strangely shaped tail and tuft of white fur around its neck. Whenever it flies, its legs are tucked under its body and only its feet are shown.

Natural abilities

They can create different kinds of ultrasonic waves.

Evolution

Swoobat is the evolved form of Woobat. It evolves at any level if it levels up while it has Max Happiness.

Appearances

Anime

A flock of Swoobat appeared in BW027 when Iris was trying to catch Emolga. They produced very noisy sound waves and were using Round to do widespread damage.

Trivia

  • Woobat and Swoobat are the only Unova Pokémon that evolve by happiness, not level up or trade.

Origin

  • Like its pre-evolotion, Swoobat is likely based on the Honduran white bat, or the heart-nosed bat.

Etymology

  • Swoobat's English name is based on the English expression "to swoon"; that is, to being overwhelmed by an emotion and "bat".
  • Swoobat's Japanese name is a combination of the Japanese words Kokoro (Heart) and Koromori (Bat).
