A Capture Styler is a device used solely by Pokémon Rangers to temporarily capture Pokémon. There are five different Styler models; School, Ranger, Fine Style), Vatonage Styler and an unnamed model that appeared on Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. The original Capture Styler resembles a cell phone. It was created by Prof. Hastings.
Functions[]
The Styler's purpose is to help Pokémon Rangers capture Pokémon to assist them in their duties. As opposed to catching a Pokémon with a Poké Ball, a capture performed with a Styler allows a Ranger to temporarily gain the assistance of wild Pokémon. The Styler launches a capture disc that creates a beam of energy that transmits the Ranger's feelings of friendship to Pokémon when they are looped by the energy. When the Ranger's friendship and intentions are fully conveyed to a Pokémon, they join them as a temporarily allies.
Other functions include communication, a Ranger Browser, the Ranger's equivalent to a Pokédex, and a glossary containing terms and important information.
Types of Stylers[]
School Styler[]
The School Styler model is used by students of the Ranger School. It was developed as a learning aid toward student Rangers, therefore it has a limited amount of functions.
Capture Styler[]
The Capture Styler is the main Styler model used by area rangers. Unlike the School Styler, it carries communication features and allows for the use of Poké Assists.
Fine Styler[]
A Styler Model exclusive to Top Rangers. This model is worn on the arm and has the Power Charge function that can increase the Styler's power up to two levels.
Vantonage Styler[]
A one-of-a-kind Styler model created exclusively for Operation Brighton. It is a Fine Styler enhanced with pieces of the Tears of Prince gems. The gem pieces allow the befriending of Pokémon under the influence of dark shards and the Shadow Crystal. It can be further enhanced by the power of the main gems to capture even the most closed off Pokémon. It was invented by Vanto and Nage, two Ranger Union scientists who also invented the Fine Styler
Guardians Signs Styler[]
An unnamed Styler model used by Ben and Summer in Guardian Signs. This model is constructed like a watch and has an interactive Voice Nav. system as well as the Power Charge function. Due to Nema's unofficial adjustments, this model also contains the Sign Mode function that can help summon Pokémon. This model is also further modified by Nema throughout the game.
Go-Rock Squad Stylers[]
In pursuit of their ultimate goal, the criminal organization, the Go-Rock Squad, utilized their own versions of Stylers to control Pokémon.
Super Styler[]
The Super Styler is more powerful version of the basic capture Styler invented by Prof. Hastings. During an escort across Krokka Tunnel, Go-Rock Squad goons stole the prototype from Prof. Hastings. The organization then mass-produced the prototype at Dusk Factory in order to use them to control Pokémon. The factory would eventually be shut down by the Rangers and the original prototype would be recovered from the Go-Rock Squad Base. The Super Styler has a design flaw that allows anyone to use it, as opposed to regular Styler that can only be used by those with good intentions and proper training. Each member of the Go-Rock Quads wielded special Super Stylers in the shape of instruments.
Power Styler[]
Gordor's secret weapon for his plans. It is an enhanced version based off the Super Styler, a giant computer resembling an electronic pipe organ. This model is powerful enough to control all three legendary beasts at once without issue. The Power Styler used special vibrations to strip Pokémon of their will and controls them. Solana/Lunick recognizes that the machine is not a true styler, as it cruelly enslaves Pokémon against their will. During the final battle against Gordor, The Player and Solana/Lunick's Plusle and Minun sabotage and destroy the Power Styler forever.
Upgrades[]
In Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs, completing Quests can provide upgrades to the styler that can reduce damage, extend line length, etc. Upgrades in Shadow's of Almia are directly installed after completing a Quest, while in Guardian Signs, upgrades are made via Ranger Points which can be acquired by completing missions and Quests. Capturing a Pokémon with an "S" rank capture for the first time also provides 1 Ranger Point.

Trivia[]
- While the Styler is resistant to conventional damage, it is not completely impervious to shock and heat.
- The original name for the Styler was the Capture Loopey-Looper, though Hastings admits he realized how foolish the name was
