Smoliv (Japanese: ミニーブ, Hepburn: Minibu) (SMAH-liv[1]) is a Grass/Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Smoliv is an olive-colored, olive-skinned, and ovoid Pokémon.
Smoliv's face is short and centered to the widest part of its head. The face comprises two circular eyes, parallel to Smoliv's feet, with one white iris each, and one mouth, whose length is the minimal distance between the eyes, with five round triangular exocarp-formed teeth that close the mouth exactly, two downward upper teeth and three upward lower teeth. Smoliv's feet are downward round triangular, as small as its eyes, and distant from each other.
On its head, Smoliv transports a gold-colored olive fruit, in which it accumulates nutrients from photosynthesis in the form of oil, that faces upward and subtly forward with five forest-green leaves supporting the fruit's base; four are acuminate, erect, projecting, and restrainedly upward inclined and are distributed equally to each intercardinal direction, and one suspends from the front, curving leftward, terminating spherically, and continuously inspissating from its position of origin.
Behavior[]
Smoliv is a timid Pokémon. The oil stored in its fruit is astringently bitter and not suitable for consumption, so when it is startled or attacked, Smoliv will eject the oil to disrupt its opponent, permitting Smoliv to escape. Smoliv prefers arid and sunny climates and frequently sunbathes.
Natural Abilities[]
After collecting nutrients, Smoliv is able to survive without additional nourishment for a week.
Evolution[]
Smoliv evolves into Dolliv at level 25.

Trivia[]
- Smoliv is the first Pokémon since the Deerling line to have the Grass and Normal type combination. However, unlike Deerling and Sawsbuck, the Grass type is its dominant type instead of its secondary type.
Origin[]
Smoliv appears to be based on an olive bud with a full olive fruit growing on its head. The fact that it stores oil in the fruit on its head appears to reference olive oil. Spain, the country that the Paldea is based on, is also the greatest producer of olive oil.
Etymology[]
Smoliv may originate from "small" and "olive." It may also incorporate the slang term "smol," slang for the word "small" that connotes affection.
ミニーブ (Minību) may originate from "mini" and "olive."
Names in other languages[]
