Slow Start is a Normal-type Ability introduced in Generation IV. Prior to Generation IX, this ability was exclusive to Regigigas.

Slow Start halves the attack and speed of the Pokémon for the first five turns it is on the field. This counter is reset if the Pokémon switches out. The Pokémon's stats return to normal if its ability is changed because of a move like Skill Swap. The target's attack used in Foul Play is halved. If a Pokémon with Slow Start uses a Z-Move based on a special move, its special attack will be halved for that move. Body Press uses the Pokémon's halved defense.
