Slither Wing (Japanese: チヲハウハネ, HepburnChiohauhane) is a Bug/Fighting-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. It is Iron Moth's counterpart.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Slither Wing is a large, moth-like Pokémon. It has large eyes that are split into four by a cross-like shape and possesses six wings on its back; each of its wings are orange-yellow and has diamond-shaped markings. It has four legs and is covered in thick, white fur. It also has a teal-colored tail, which has a row of greenish-yellow spines and black dots. Its face is very insectoid and possesses orange bone-like structures on the side of its face, with the same shape pattern colored around its eyes.

Behavior[]

It somewhat resembles an ancient form of Volcarona that was introduced in a dubious magazine. It is said to share traits with Volcarona and its name came from a similarly described creature in the Scarlet Book. There has been rare sightings of Slither Wing. It is believed Slither Wing may have been revived from a fossil from a prehistoric era, despite no fossil evidence.

Natural abilities[]

Slither Wing can only have the ability Protosynthesis, which will boost its most proficient stat in harsh sunlight or if it's holding a Booster Energy.

Evolution[]

Slither Wing does not evolve.

    Trivia[]

    • Slither Wing is the first Pokémon whose Japanese name includes the kana ヲ (particle o or wo).
    • Slither Wing is the tallest Bug-type Pokemon and Fighting-type Pokemon.
    • Slither Wing is tied with Basculeigon for the largest amount of unique characters (with 11; including spaces)

    Origin[]

Slither Wing is most likely based on a bagworm moth larva. Similar to Volcarona, it also has some physical traits of an Atlas moth. Slither Wing might also share some similarities with Mothra Leo, a kaiju that resembles a semi matured moth larva, as well as being the offspring of Mothra (another kaiju that is the main inspiration for Volcarona). Its overall physical appearance (mainly its tail and posture) might draw some inspirations from dinosaurs.

    Etymology[]

Slither Wing is literally slither wing.
