Shonosuke oversaw the Pokémon Sumo Contest, to detect if there are any violations. Team Rocket had their Wobbuffet disguised as Miltank and used Counter against Ursaring. Shonosuke disqualified them, so Team Rocket took their disguises off and went to get the reward. However, Raiden's Feraligatr blasted them off with Hydro Pump. When the Sumo Contest was over, he pronounced Ash the winner and presented him with a King's Rock.
