Shelgon (Japanese: コモルー, Hepburn: Komoruu) (SHELL-gon) is a Dragon-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

Biology

Physiology

Shelgon is a quadruped Pokémon that resembles a pupal stage. There are bone structures covering its body, which form a shell with two openings and three ridges on top. One opening is in front, revealing two yellow eyes, while the other opening is in the back. This bony covering repels enemy attacks, but it makes Shelgon heavy. As a result, this Pokémon moves sluggishly and hardly eats. Inside the shell, its body is busy forming for its next evolution. The moment this Pokémon evolves, its shell peels away. Its gray legs are visible protruding from underneath the shell, each with a short red stripe on the inner surface. It can be found in caverns.

Behavior

They toughen their own willpower and become hardier through this fasting as they prepare to evolve.Shelgon are a very hardy species that can survive in most climates. They are resistant to both extreme cold and heat thanks to their insulating armor. However, they avoid deep water at all costs; their heavy shells render them unable to float and their stubby limbs make it impossible for them to swim.Shelgon are territorial Pokémon. They dislike humans in their territory and will act aggressively towards them. They may either fight or flee when they sense danger.

Evolution

Shelgon evolves from Bagon at level 30 and into Salamence at level 50.

Shelgon was first seen when a Bagon evolved in Let Bagons Be Bagons!. Drake used a Shelgon in Vanity Affair, where it defeated Pikachu. A Shelgon competed in the Hoenn Grand Festival in Hi Ho Silver Wind! and Deceit and Assist.

• Shelgon is supposedly longing to evolve into Salamence, from which time on it can fly (a long time dream that Bagon has).

Origin

Shelgon may be based on a dragon and a reptile egg or bug pupa, most likely the former as dragons are reptilian.
