The user attacks everything around it by causing an explosion. The user faints upon using this move. |
In battle[]
As the name states, the user explodes, causing he/she to die. This attack can cause massive amounts of damage to every other Pokémon on the field.
Only Ghost-type Pokémon are immune to the move.
If the player character receives the Winner's Path for the Pokéwalker in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, a Munchlax that knows Self-Destruct can be found.
Other games[]
Super Smash Bros. series[]
In the Super Smash Bros. series Pokémon appear in battles as items in the form of Poké Balls. In S.S.B.B. (Brawl) Electrode will use self-destruct. Electrode's body will have start becoming red indicating it's about to blow, however it can only be picked up when it's about to explode meaning it is hard to throw it. Sometimes it will even short-circuit, making steam come from it, after this it will start again and explode much faster.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series[]
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Sky, Self-Destruct damages members of the player's team for 50% of their current HP, or in the case of Fire-types, 25%. Enemy Pokémon take 40 damage each; enemies that faint from this damage will not earn the player's team any Experience Points. All items and walls within a one-tile radius are destroyed. Self-Destruct fails in rainy weather and when a Pokémon with Damp (such as Psyduck) is present on the dungeon floor.
