Seedot (Japanese: タネボー Taneboo) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

Biology

Physiology

Seedot is a small, brown Pokémon that resembles an acorn. A beige, mask-like pattern covers its large black eyes, and it has two beige feet. It has a gray "cap" with a short stem on top of its head. The stem is used to hang from tree branches in its forest home. While hanging, this Pokémon absorbs moisture and nutrients from the tree until it becomes too heavy and falls to the ground. The more it drinks, the glossier its body becomes. Additionally, Seedot polishes itself with leaves once daily. If it remains still, it can be mistaken for a nut and startles others by moving suddenly.

Evolution

Seedot evolves into Nuzleaf at level 14. Then into Shiftry when given a Leaf Stone.

Appearances

Anime

Seedot debuted in Johto Photo Finish when Harrison was introducing its native region.

Manga

Seedot made many cameos in pokemon adventures, where some of them attacked Ruby. Factory Head Thorton rented one to battle Platinum, but was poisoned and defeated by a rented Qwilfish.

Trivia

  • Seedot is the only Pokémon that can learn Explosion of its evolutionary line, yet Nuzleaf and Shiftry can't.
  • Seedot is one of the easiest Pokemon to catch in the Pokémon Ranger games, only 1 loop is needed to catch it.
  • It is somewhat the counterpart to Lotad.
    • They have identical evolution methods(they evolve into their middle form at level 14, then into their final form via evolutionary stones).
    • They are both Hoenn based Grass Types.
    • Seedot is exclusive to Ruby and Lotad is exclusive to Sapphire, and both are found in the same locations.
    • They have identical base stat totals but are distributed differently(Seedot is more physical and Lotad is more special).
    • They can be transferred to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Version and Pokémon Platinum Version via the dual-slot mode.
    • In the White version, both appear in White Forest.
  • Seedot and Sunkern(the pokemon with the lowest base stat total overall) have the lowest base special defense off all grass types.
  • It has been known that Pidgey is its predator.
