Season 3

The third season of the Pokémon anime (known simply as Pokémon during the airing of episodes from the Orange Islands, and retroactively titled Pokémon: The Johto Journeys by official sources) features 11 episodes from the Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands arc and all 41 episodes from the Pokémon: The Johto Journeys arc in which Ash Ketchum and his friends, Misty and Tracey Sketchit continue their travels in the Orange Islands, with Ash taking on the Orange League and their leader, Drake. After Tracey stays in Pallet and Brock rejoins, Ash and Misty then head on to the Johto region, where they travel from New Bark Town to Goldenrod City.

It is continued by Pokémon: Johto League Champions, which Season 4 of the series. Re-releases starting with the late 2016 addition of the series on Watch Disney XD shorten it to the last 41 episodes (with the first 11 episodes of this season becoming the 50th-60th episodes of Season 2) to remain consistent with the beginning of Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver.

On Nick+, its shortened to 14 episodes. This only exists in countries that have Pokémon on Nick+.

In Japan, it was broadcast on TV Tokyo, later on Kids Station and Nick Japan since 2018.

In the US, this season was broadcast on Kids' WB! from 2001 until 2002, then aired reruns from Nickelodeon in January 2002 to 2011 and Nicktoons from 2002 to 2019.

Trivia[]

The Orange Islands episodes of this season have the intro theme shortened.
Beginning with this season, 4Kids Entertainment started censoring Jynx's original design (unlike in the previous season), with "Pokémon Double Trouble" cutting out a scene that features it entirely.
