Seasons are divisions of a year defined by the weather and length of day. The four seasons in both real life and the Pokémon World are spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Seasons were introduced as a gameplay mechanic in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version and returned in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, where their function is largely the same.
Description[]

Spring, one of the seasons, in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version
In the Generation V games, unlike the time cycle, the seasonal cycle is not completely based on and dependent on the seasonal cycle in real life, since each season lasts for only month; from this, the player can complete every season within a minimum of four months. Once the four months are done, the cycle repeats, so the player has three opportunities each year to access every season.
Like in real life, the four different periods of a day—morning, day, evening, and night—differ in length during each season.
Besides aesthetic, seasons have various effects on the environment. Seasons affect which wild Pokémon appear in certain areas and even how commonly some appear. The weather can also be affected, such as rainy areas experiencing snowfall during the winter. The background music also changes in various areas to reflect the season, such as Undella Town's theme being more upbeat during the summer and more bells playing in certain areas during winter.
Certain characters appear only during certain seasons, such as Cynthia showing up in Undella Town during the spring and summer.
Seasons affect the forms of two species of Pokémon, Deerling and Sawsbuck, but the difference is only cosmetic. The current form of Deerling or Sawsbuck changes automatically depending on the season, meaning that the seasons do not affect Deerlings and Sawsbucks that are in the Pokémon Storage System.
