Sandwich

A sandwich is a type of food common in the Paldea region, consisting of fillings sandwiched between two pieces of bread seasoned by condiments. Like other Paldean foods, they offer different Meal Powers for an amount of time.

Other than sandwich that can be bought from stores, the player can make their own sandwiches during a Picnic, using sandwich ingredients bought from shops and, optionally, preset recipes offered by various NPCs around the region.

Creating a sandwich

Creating a sandwich consists of several steps:

1. • In Creative Mode, the player can choose between sandwich fillings and condiments to be used in a sandwich. Up to 6 fillings and 4 condiments can be used at a time.
   • In Recipe Mode, the player can select a sandwich recipe taught to the player from select NPCs in Paldea, listed below. Once the recipe is selected, the corresponding sandwich ingredients are automatically chosen.
2. Next, the player has to choose a sandwich pick for the sandwich.
3. Once the pick is selected, the player can start prepping the sandwich. The selected condiments are automatically used to season the bottom slice of bread, and the player then has 10 minutes to put all of the fillings on top of the bread slice by holding the A button. The fillings disappear if they fall too far out of the bread. If the sandwich is created using Recipe Mode, an image of the corresponding sandwich is provided in the bottom-right corner of the screen for the player's reference.
4. Once all the fillings are used or the time is up, the player is provided 2 minutes to put the other slice of bread on top of the fillings by pressing the A button. If the bread falls off the fillings, the bread disappears from the plate; however, missing the top bread does not alter the resultant sandwich's Meal Powers at all.
5. Finally, the chosen sandwich pick is inserted to the sandwich using the A button. The player also has 2 minutes to do so.

Once the sandwich is made, the player, the Pokémon in their party and the ride KoraidonS/MiraidonV (if applicable) can be seen eating the sandwich. The eaten sandwich is then rated with the sandwich name shown in the screen (if the resulting ingredients do not match the set of ingredients used in any recipes, the sandwich is named "A Tasty (player name) Original" instead).

Meal Powers

Each sandwich has three different effects applied upon being eaten and last for 30 minutes. Apart from Egg Power, there are three levels for each power, with higher levels giving better effects:

• Humungo Power: Increases the chances of finding bigger-sized Pokémon.
• Teensy Power: Increases the chances of finding smaller-sized Pokémon.
• Encounter Power: Drastically increases the chances of that specific Pokémon type appearing in the area if available.
• Item Drop Power:
• Raid Power: Adds extra drop(s) to cleared Tera Raids.
• Egg Power: Increases the likelihood of an Egg/a sparkling item appearing in the basket of the picnic set, and decreases the amount of steps needed to hatch an Egg.
• Exp. Point Power: Increases the experience points gained from defeating a specific Pokémon type.
• Title Power: Increases the chances of the Pokémon having a mark.
• Catching Power: Increases the chances of catching a specific Pokémon type.
• Sparkling Power: Increases the chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon.

Trivia

• Other than the Jambon-Beurres and the Legendary Sandwiches, each type of sandwich has four versions: the normal version, Great, Ultra and Master, with Master always requiring a shaker of a certain type of Herba Mystica as the condiment.
• Much like the amount of curry that the player can make in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, the amount of sandwich recipes the player can obtain is 151, referencing the amount of Pokémon introduced in Generation I.
