Trivia

  • Salazzle is very similar to Vespiquen, as they evolve from female Pokémon only. The males of their pre-evolutions never evolve.
    • Both are also seven males to one female.
  • Salazzle and her pre-evolution Salandit are the only Pokémon so far to have this unique type combination.

Origin

Salazzle may be based on a salamander, which is usually associated with fire in mythology. Her all-female nature may be inspired by the New Mexico Whiptail. Her appearance and posture may also draw inspiration from dromaeosaur dinosaurs like Velociraptor. Her behavior could also draw inspiration from the succubus, which is popular in Japanese anime.

Etymology

Salazzle is a combination of salamander and dazzle. It might also include sizzle which means to slightly and slowly burn.

Ennyūto is a portmanteau of 炎 (en, flame) and "newt," newts being amphibians related to salamanders.
