Chapter plot[]
Kubfu began his battle against Mustard's Urshifu by closing the distance. Mustard takes note of that, and sees Henry Sword decided to have Kubfu take hits to reduce the damage, having learned from the previous encounter. He wonders if Kubfu would become more hesitant, due to not even able to hit Urshifu at the Tower of Darkness. Urshifu then corners Kubfu and struck a Wicked Blow on Kubfu. Despite being smashed in the face on a crate, Kubfu stands up and retaliates with Aerial Ace. Despite the super-effective more, Mustard finds it that Kubfu didn't do much damage, and while he may gotten more hits, but Kubfu's still taken great damage. Mustard thinks that only Counter could have him win this battle, but it would have to take another blow it won't endure. As Urshifu uses Wicked Blow, Kubfu landed an Aerial Ace on Urshifu's leg, then immediately after strikes it with Close Combat, defeating the Wushu Pokémon.
Mustard was impressed at being thrown off and landing on Urshifu's foot, it was just as good as Counter. Henry Sword states they wanted to close the distance for Kubfu to exploit this weakness. Mustard laughs, acknowledging Kubfu's progress: it used to rely on brute force before Henry Sword came along, and used all of its stamina. It was until he was defeated by Urshifu that he stopped being reckless, and used Detect in some of the battles to read his opponent's moves, letting him endure more. Mustard sees they learned the final lesson of water, to be struck by a wave before retaliating. Mustard displays to Kubfu the Scroll of Water: Kubfu evolves into the Rapid Style Strike Urshifu and learns Surging Strikes. Henry, despite seeing he didn't have time to change himself, is now free to search for the Rusted Sword and Shield. The newly evolved Urshifu is sad to see him go, which makes Mustard worried that Henry is being cold. However, Henry turns around asks if Urshifu can accompany him: Mustard agrees, and Urshifu runs off to Henry Sword.
As they exit, Casey calls Henry Sword saying that there is a problem. Although she and Marvin are so excited that Kubfu evolved, they announced that the managed to find the Rusted Shield in a sandbank! To reach it, Marvin has Dracie take them there, but then they see Hop being carried by the Moltres. Hop descends down, feeling a bit weak. He tells to Casey grabbed it thinking it was running away when he and the other rivals tried to catch the Legendary Birds. Getting a reaction, Casey concludes that the Rusted Shield is on the tree Moltres is on: it must have put in a nest, but when the group was searching, it placed the artifact on the tree. Henry Sword dashes off to obtain the artifact, but is restrained by Urshifu. Marvin has Sniffler attack the Moltres with Snipe Shot, but Hop said it won't work because it's not really a Fire-type. As using Cramorant didn't work, Hop used Electric attacks: he uses his Pincurchin to attack it while Casey uses Tera.
Moltres reveals the shield, Marvin makes it drop it by having Dracie use Ancient Power. Henry Sword wraps the shield in cloth, but then Moltres takes him and the shield away! Moltres flies away, past the sea, past the forest to a cavern. However, Moltres feels tired, and starts falling down. Henry Sword quickly unleashes, Beamyn, who manages to pierce its steel beam into the wall to get them to stop. Henry decided to be nice and gave Moltres a Max Revive, then he realized that it wanted to show him something. Moltres drops Henry in an area of snow. Henry feels weakened as well, remembering Hop's symptoms, thinking Moltres was behind it. He saw some sort of Pokémon in the distance, and as he approaches it, the Pokémon disappears. Much to his surprise, he finds Bede unconscious. Bede wakes up, and is immediately furious to see Henry Sword, wishing this was a hallucination from being cold. Henry Sword wants to ask Bede some questions, but Bede cuts the talk, promising to tell more at the hideout, to which Henry makes fun of.
There, Henry Sword meets Peony, who takes a closer look at Henry Sword. Henry Sword points his finger at Henry, not buying the "good guy act", saying it reminded him of someone he knew, and demands of Henry to leave immediately.
