Chapter plot[]
In the morning, Henry wakes up to find that Kubfu is missing. He sneaks outside, but trips over: Casey slept by his door hoping he wouldn't try and sneak out to the tower to find the Rusted Sword and Shield. Mustard arrives, confirming this and the gatekeeper carried the fainted Wushu Pokémon in her arms as Kubfu had the same idea. Mustard notes that Kubfu had the same idea as Henry, seeing the two are becoming alike. Henry apologized to Casey saying she had a right not to trust him. Mustard blames himself revealing that the sword and shield are not at the Tower of Darkness as the gatekeeper had everyone search everywhere. Casey expected of Mustard to tell this sooner, but the latter mentions it was because he really wanted Henry and Kubfu to train. He thought it would be good for him to control his impulses and not get distracted by gear as well as Kubfu to behave himself and get to know the outside world.
Mustard explains that Henry meant well, but his impulses upset the people close to him, next time that will be a deterrent. Henry worries if he could help himself, Mustard says that many people depend on themselves and can't realize their own weaknesses: he needs self-discipline, and in time to muster the power to rely on others. Casey agrees with him saying it's important to rely on others, she promises Henry that she'll stop his impulses. The next day, the group heads to the other tower on the Isle of Armor, the Tower of Waters. The sword and shield weren't there either, and instead it is a choice to see which tower Henry will chose the type for Kubfu. Kubfu, remembering what happened at the Tower of Darkness, decided on the Tower of Waters. And so, his training with Henry continued for days, and it finally it came to an end, even though the sword and shield still weren't found.
Mustard is very impressed, he explained that each tower has five strong trainers, he himself will be waiting at the top. The next day, at the Tower of Waters, its own gatekeeper tells Henry and Kubfu that they can't leave until the challenge is complete, and the Tower of Darkness will be barred from entering. Henry and Kubfu have made their decision, and as they venture in the tower, Casey and Marvin went off to continue the search of the sword and shield. As he faces the first trainer, Henry wonders if it is the same one from Tower of Waters. The first trainer utters a proverb about water; Henry sees she is different from the trainer of Tower of Darknes. Henry stops her asking if healing and held items are used before the battle. She awkwardly responds that they are, and they begin.
Her Psyduck uses Zen Headbutt. Kubfu bounces off, and easily KOs it with Counter. Much to the trainer's surprise, Kubfu had a Payapa berry on him. Henry knew that the tower would most likely using moves strong against the Fighting-type Kubfu, as the facility is made for specific purpose to train it. He also noticed the marks in the room and did not want to make the same mistake with that Impidimp. The trainer is impressed but also annoyed when Henry said it was predictable, Mustard already warned her about this behavior. Henry faces more trainers, who utter more water-related proverbs. Kubfu wins against Krabby, Marill, and Poliwhirl, when the trainer states his final challenge awaits. Henry suspects it is Mustard, throwing the trainer off balance. In fact, on the fifth and final floor, Mustard mutters how Henry guessed correctly that he was the final opponent. He takes off his hat and jersey, showing his "battle form" and brings out his Pokémon.
Kubfu is trembling, to which Mustard adds that it was this Pokémon, Urshifu, who defeated Kubfu at the Tower of Darkness, where it evolved. It was the reason why Kubfu chose the Tower of Waters, and now faces the exact same Pokémon. Meanwhile, at the Crown Tundra, Marnie, Bede and Hop approached the Dyna Tree Hill. Peony was too tired because the previous night, the mayor kept trying to put "Boatneck Sweatshirts" onto him hoping to revitalize the town. The three already found three ruins of the legendary titans and managed to catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. Bede inquires whether there are traces of Rusted Sword and Shield: Marnie found a reaction to the sword and shield moving. The group takes a look, and find a "black" Moltres. Immediately after that, an odd Zapdos arrives and battles Moltres. Marnie is uncertain which Pokémon they should be looking for, as the reaction isn't stronger when they are closer. Bede suggested that they must have touched them. Suddenly, a "masked" Articuno arrives as well, and faces the other two Legendary Pokémon.
Hop proposes that they should catch one of the birds and have it lead them to the sword and shield. Hop goes after Articuno, annoying Bede that Hop forced him to choose Moltres, and Marnie faces Zapdos.
