Chapter plot[]
While Henry Sword and Casey search for tree sap with their new hairstyles, Peony meets with the mayor of Freezington at the house he rented. The mayor lets them know he prepared the lodge for Peony, even though he did also bring two additional kids. The mayor mistakes Bede as Peonia, thinking Peony did a lot for his little girl. Marnie and Hop smirk, to which the mayor realizes his mistake and believes Marnie to be Peonia. Peony cuts their talk and expresses gratitude to the mayor, as the group heads inside for a nice dinner. After that, Peony explains that there are three legends on the Crown Tundra: The King of Bountiful Harvests, three flying Pokémon near a tree, and titans sleeping in ruins. The Peony Exploration team is going to prove that these legends are true; Hop is ecstatic, an attitude that annoys Bede, yet Marnie reminds them of their mission. Peony asks them to get rest for tomorrow, and asks for their names.
The next morning at the Forest of Focus, Kubfu is in shock to hear the group would use the entire tree sap, so he snatches it from Casey. Casey sends Bit after him, but Kubfu is hesitant to return the capsule and battles Bit. While Avery is amazed at Kubfu's moves, Klara is disappointed that it would betray them. After a short battle, the two Pokémon begin working together: Kubfu reveals a poisoned Zorua under some leaves, for he only wanted to use the sap to cure it. Henry Sword realizes that Zorua has collapsed trying to reach the tree, and Kubfu was alarmed that they would use all of the sap. The group understands it would rather help an injured Pokémon, even though this would put their mission at risk of failing. Marvin points out it tried to do the right thing, and persuades Henry and Casey to apologize to Kubfu. Klara adds in that it could've mentioned something earlier, but this starts to confuse Kubfu.
Since the Zorua is a wild Pokémon, Avery is against using an antidote, and Marvin sees they could use a Pecha Berry. Marvin tries to shake the tree, but berries other than Pecha fall down. Instead, he uses Dracie to shake a tree to get a Pecha Berry, which makes Klara wonder why would they go after the tree sap if they had berries around. As she has a revelation, Marvin shares some berries with Kubfu before seeing his Dracie has fainted. The group sees a gang of Skwovet and Greedent: Klara realizes that the forest is home to these Pokémon, and that's why the wild Pokémon chose to go to the sap instead. They steal all the berries, to which Kubfu tries to fight back, but as soon as they take damage, Skwovet eat the berries to restore their health. As there are too many of Pokémon, Henry Sword, Marvin, and Casey send out Stickyn, Sniffler and Bit to help out. Stickyn starts to pound the ground with its two sticks; Drizzile hits them with bubbles, Raboot goes after the one eating berries causing the gang members to drop, and Thwackey uses his stick to let the other two Pokémon know where to attack next and concentrate.
Avery is quite amazed by how all three are in sync, and they even fight well to defeat the Skwovet. Suddenly, all three Pokémon evolve: they finish the Greedent leader with their signature moves - Drum Beating, Pyro Ball and Snipe Shot. Avery and Klara were very impressed by this, even though they think it is good they aren't official students or the two would get beaten. They note how Rilaboom was the band master, who would issue orders to coordinate others better. They say that people and Pokémon don't usually follow orders, but Casey points out most people behave differently, for it is only the two of them that react like that, which displeases Klara and Avery. The Pecha berry cured the Zorua. Casey informs Oleana about the tree sap, and is surprised that she got an answer right away. Casey reads that a Marcos Cosmos logistics employee is at the gate of the railway station. Avery decides to go get them while they continue training Kubfu. Klara butts in as well, pointing out that he could use assistance due to many wild Pokémon roaming about.
The group continues on, and have Kubfu fight wild Pokémon. Once they reach Challenge Road, the group is amazed at the view of the landscape. Casey notices Henry's reaction, to which he blushes, for it has been a while that he had something to enjoy. Suddenly, Casey's drone has a reaction. Apparently, something that has the same material as the Rusted Sword and Shield is nearby.
