— (Japanese: Sword & Shield chapter 32) is a chapter of Sword & Shield Chapter.

Synopsis[]

On route to Crown Tundra, Bede tries to protect a girl from her obsessive father. However, Bede realizes the relationship could be ideal as between him and Chairman Rose, so Marnie steps in to confront the girl's father. At the same time, Casey and Marvin find Henry Sword at the dojo, who has some explanation to do.

Chapter plot[]

As the rivals are taking the train to Crown Tundra, they go through a tunnel. Hop remarks how long this tunnel is, and Marnie believes the mountain above them is what separates the rare Pokémon from Crown Tundra. Suddenly, they get a notice from Casey that she has made it to Isle of Armor. On their door, a girl appears, shaken, surprising the rest. She hugs Bede, asking of the group to hide her from an old man. The group is alert, and Bede gives her his coat to conceal her. Hop and Marnie pitch in with their wig and hat they obtained. A voice utters to "Nia" that he is coming for her, shaking the girl greatly. The group looks at the door, startled to see the old man, who resembles Chairman Rose a bit, but wearing explorer clothes. He asks if they had seen a girl their age coming by, but Marnie and Hop state that she went into a different train car. As he walks away, Hop and Marnie are to comment how the man resembles Chairman Rose, but Bede cuts their talk, denying that. The girl is nevertheless pleased they helped her out; she wanted to catch some Dynamax Pokémon at Max Lair, but the old man butted in to tag along, wanting to explore Crown Tundra with his daughter.

Marnie and Hop are a bit astounded that the old man is her father - the girl painfully confirms that, and while she would be okay with him paying the expenses, she'd rather go on her own. She took her pass, but he somehow was able to get to her. While she was able to hide in the bathroom stalls, they got occupied and came here. Bede looks at her, and thinking of the girl with the old man sharing good times, he then pictures himself and Chairman Rose in the same position. The old man returns, shouting to get "Nia", even with the train's staff trying to calm him down. Bede pretends to sneeze to get the old man's attention, and then takes the girl's fake hair and cap, revealing her. The girl, who becomes upset, calls Bede a traitor, to which the old man thanks him for that. Marnie thinks this was a cute gesture from Bede, who blushes, but Marnie nevertheless feels bad for the girl.

Moments later, the group has arrived to Crown Tundra. Hop is astounded by this place, until he hears the old man shouting how he and his daughter will have a good time. The girl looks at Bede and Hop, calling them traitors. Marnie approaches the old man, asking for a battle to decide Nia's outcome. The man is disappointed that Marnie is interfering into their family, but considering how strong he is, takes on her challenge. Bede proposes he could fight, but is shocked to hear when Marnie blames that he'd lose that fight on purpose. The old man raises his hand, introducing himself as Peony, and sends Copperajah to battle Marnie's Grimmsnarl (Adventures). Hop and Bede observe this fight, and the former comments how Peony uses a Copperajah. Despite this, Hop notices they get sidetracked by different missions a lot, as the girl shouts to Marnie not to lose this fight. Bede reminds they do intefere in others' business a lot, to which Hop prays Casey has a better time than they do.

At the Isle of Armor, in the dojo, Honey, Mustard and Hyde greet Casey and Marvin, but are surprised to hear they aren't the new students. She just got Oleana's orders to take care of them, but Avery blames her for jumping to conclusions. Mustard explains with the Darkest Day unleashed, they suffered none of the consequences here, and don't have any sense of danger involved. Instead, Casey admits they were looking for Henry Sword, who is looking at the group from a door. Honey extends their hospitality, stating they could get the students to help in their search. As they do that, Mustard sends out a Pokémon, asking of the two to look after it while they are here. He remarks that this Pokémon needs a lot of care, but it is shy to others. He hopes if they take it outside, it might toughen up to new experiences. Avery and Klara protest that Mustard would give the Pokémon to outsiders instead of students, but Mustard reminds that neither Avery nor Klara have finished their training yet. Casey admits she already has a full team and cannot take Kubfu, so Mustard points out to "Henry-kins", confusing Casey and Marvin for that nickname. Henry is estranged, but walks out, shocking his friends for the overgrown hair. Henry calls out to Mustard, who grins, yet Marvin and Casey are still glad to have found Henry.

Mustard exclaims that they just need to find the Rusted Sword and Shield, but Casey adds that they need the antidote as well. With the proper recipe from Oleana, Casey and Marvin believe this should cure the ailment from Leon and others affected by Eternatus. Casey slaps Klara on her back, counting on her help in developing the antidote. Casey pulls Henry Sword to her side to find this antidote, but Henry protests. He bows down, apologizing that they were unable to save Galar. Casey suspects it was the poison that affected his mind, but Henry remarks that when it comes to gear, he cannot stop thinking about it - everything else becomes secondary and blurred to him until he can satisfy his desire to obtain that gear. Henry blames himself that even without the poison, the outcome would've been the same. Casey asks "So?", to which Henry attempts to explain himself. Casey stops him, reminding that he did save a lot of people and Pokémon, and while he thinks of the gear as his mission, she never tried to stop him before. She blames herself for not speaking up, for she should've told him that something was bad or to praise him instead. So, as Henry Sword tries to apologize, Casey also wants him to know she's sorry as well, as she could've been a better friend to warn him.

Henry Sword tries to speak up that she didn't do anything wrong, but Mustard cuts the talk. He asks of Henry to listen to him, as he reminds them of their mission. Casey shouts out they have to return the Rusted Shield and Sword to Zacian and Zamazenta, then to calm Eternatus' rage. Mustard smiles, reminding they can settle their differences after their mission is over, and asks of Henry to take care of Kubfu. Henry clenches his fists, and smiles to Casey, thanking her. Casey braces herself, trying to find locations of the artifacts on this island. She then receives word from Oleana, who was contacted by Miss Poison to find some sap in the foggy morning on this island, which is an ingredient for the antidote. She inquires Mustard about this sap, but neither he nor Honey know about this sap. Hyde recalls having used some nectar to cure Henry, but Klara has no idea whether this was the sap they mentioned or some Applin nectar.

Still, she believes they could find some sap in the Forest of Focus, but does not think she would get anything out of taking them to that place. Avery steps in, exclaiming that they could find this sap with the aid of his psychic powers.
