Chapter plot[]
Bede, Oleana and Chairman Rose stare at Eternatus' new, circular form. The tower itself becomes dismantled in a whirlwind, even hitting Pokémon. Nessa states it is a bad situation, to which Raihan suspects it won't let them leave. Raihan has Flygon fly him up, to attack Eternatus at close range. However, the attack is quickly reflected, causing the two to fall down. Raihan yells in frustration as why did this attack, Dragon Rush, got deflected. Suddenly, the "arm" of Eternatus unfolds, and emits beams that strike the ground, hitting all Pokémon and injuring them badly. To make another attempt, Raihan, Nessa, Leon and Melony send more Pokémon out. Hop and Marnie prepare themselves as well, but get warped away by Piers' Malamar, to Sonia. The two protest, but Malamar falls down by Eternatus' beam attack.
The motorhome with the rest of the Gym Leaders rides away. Gordie receives a call that Macro Cosmos' employees have also been stationed to Circhester. With all of the towns secured, the group decides to return to Hammerlocke and provide support to others. Marvin tries to contact Henry and Casey, but there is nothing but static ever since Eternatus has changed its form. Opal fears what could happen there is anyone's guess. The motorhome continues towards Hammerlocke, but they stop when a blast opens a hole in the road. Magnolia and Marvin come out, and the former recognizes what this blast was about. With another attack, Eternatus strikes Charizard and Duraludon. Raihan and Nessa see that type advantages mean nothing, and Leon wants to retreat for the moment to call for support, though Melony fears they may not get out. Piers looks at Eternatus, joking it may even let them pass if they play dead or something.
Eternatus unfolds its "fingers" and emits beams. The group spreads around to avoid being struck by its beam. The beam closes on Leon, who gets saved by a Pokémon: Zamazenta. Leon wonders what is going on, and Sonia recognizes it, while the other one, Zacian, jumps in to attack Eternatus, preventing its beam from striking. As the two Pokémon attack Eternatus, Piers asks Melony and Nessa if they have a Revive. Nessa admits she has a Revival Herb left, pleasing Piers: the herb heals his Malamar. Piers asks of Leon and Raihan to join them, as Piers warps the entire group to Hop and Marnie. Hop asks Leon who these Pokémon are; Leon is not sure, but finds them a strong enough match against Eternatus. Sonia compares them to the statues at Stow-on-Side, to which the group realizes they are, indeed, Zacian and Zamazenta, though Hop is unclear which one's which. Sonia sees that they aren't holding the relics, so she goes to see Henry.
Henry is in despair, unable to repair Rusted Sword and Shield. He admits he never had this situation before: while he could compare the material and fix such equipment, he is unable to repair these two relics. Casey explains they don't know much, except that they are made from metal. Sonia adds that the two Pokémon have reappeared, and believes that the two relics could restore them. She asks Henry to bring those relics to them. However, Henry does not want to, surprising Sonia and Casey. He admits ever since he saw them in the Slumbering Weald, he coveted to forge them: it was the only reason he entered the Challenge Cup, and would not like to part with them. Zacian and Zamazenta stop, and Eternatus stops the whirlwind, to which Leon thinks it received some damage. Hop and Marnie cheer on the two Pokémon, whereas Piers jokes how they won't lose with Marnie cheering them on.
Zacian and Zamazenta look to Henry's direction. As Henry holds on the artifacts, they lift him up, shocking Casey and Sonia. Henry yells out to stop: the artifacts emit a bright flash, and while Zacian and Zamazenta speed up to him, Eternatus prepares for its next attack.
