Chapter plot[]

Oleana approaches the group, asking of everyone to step in and help Chairman Rose. Piers doubts she should be asking them this, though Casey is much more furious than that, since it was she and Rose that trapped them in here while unleashing the calamity. Oleana assures them this is about Galar's future in a thousand years, even if Raihan doubts that. Oleana, however, admits that while there are people that will question his decisions, Rose is also a man that can make wrong decisions. Melony understands, for sometimes people have to act, sacrificing much to gain something more, but it won't mean much if people get hurt. It is why she asks of them to help Rose before things become irrepairable. She also asks about the heroes' descendants. Leon admits that the Rusted Sword and Shield they brought were useless, but the chairman saved those guys. Henry Sword and Casey shove Leon, for those are valuable artifacts he is looking down on, and the men that Rose saved still have two of Casey's Pokémon. Bede cuts the talk, calling the elevator to pledge in his support, and asks of Hattrem to come with him. As the group enters the elevator, out of the walls, water bursts out, and Mega and Giga emerge out of it.

At the top, Rose has Gigantamax Copperajah unleash G-Max Steelsurge. Despite the blast, Eternatus appears unscathed; Rose notes that he didn't have what it took to be a Champion, and neither to strike at Eternatus. He is at his limits, and wish that Sordward and Shielbert didn't cover the truth, for they would have the truth on how to deal with Eternatus. Suddenly, Eternatus fires Flamethrower, striking Rose and Gigantamax Copperajah. As the group comes out of the elevator, they become startled to see Sordward and Shielbert hanging on the wall. Moreover, they see the flames that Eternatus spread out, so Nessa sends Quagsire and Dreadnaw to extinguish the fire. Leon and Raihan immediately dash in to rescue the chairman, to which Eternatus swings its tail to attack them. Upon seeing this, Bede's Hattrem becomes furious, and evolves, striking at Eternatus.

Leon and Raihan place Rose elsewhere, where Oleana kneels down to him. Rose is grateful for their rescue, as well as Bede for saving his life. Bede looks at Rose, realizing he didn't forget his name. Rose sticks his tongue out, claiming that he "slipped up". Oleana asks of him to drop this act, for he wouldn't forget Bede's name if he sent him to collect the Wishing Stars. Bede becomes upset, wondering what are they talking about. Leon and Raihan face Eternatus, commenting that it must be Dragon and Poison-type Pokémon to have Hatterene's Dazzling Gleam work so efficiently. Raihan asks for Melony's support, and the trio sends Dragapult, Flygon and Lapras. Piers and Marnie decide to enter the fight as well, and ask Hop as well. Hop admits that he doesn't have any Pokémon with an advantage over Eternatus, but Piers reminds him that if he doesn't think he can win, then he could make sure he doesn't lose. Hop slaps himself, getting himself focused: he and the rest battle Eternatus.

Casey yells at Sordward and Shielbert (while Sonia restrains her), demanding to know where her Pokémon are that they have stolen. The duo doesn't have a clue, thinking they fell out of their pockets when Eternatus attacked them. Henry Sword asks about the Rusted Sword and Shield, but is told that "the heaps of junk" fell down as well. However, Shielbert and Sordward are annoyed that they are still being filmed. Sonia merely asks them whether they were supposed to stop Eternatus, considering Rose brought it out to gather Galar particles. The brothers confirm that, stating it would restore their "heroic" status. Sonia points out even by working together and having the heroic status wasn't enough to defeat Eternatus. Casey points out they were doomed to fail, annoying the duo, asking of the "commoners" to be silent. Henry wonders if their ancestors had knowledge on stopping Eternatus, to which the duo answers that their family worked hard to erase that evidence. Sonia realizes that they were behind falsifying history: making a fake statue, hiding the fifth tapestry and building a mural to conceal the statue. The duo confirms that as well, to which Casey realizes that the Pokémon they encountered - Zacian and Zamazenta - are the real heroes.

The brothers yell out of Casey to stop, to which she reminds that in falsifying history, the heroes from the legend would also not be recognized among the citizens of Galar. Sordward and Shielbert are deeply hurt by these words, but they still hold back their tears. Henry Sword wonders about the Rusted Sword and Shield, for they did nothing against Eternatus. Sonia thinks it might be because they were held by "phony heroes", making the brothers more angry about her choice of words. Casey remembers something, and shows a picture of the statue, where the two Pokémon are holding the relics, thinking it was intended for them to use. Henry starts pondering why the human figures are depicted in the statue as well. Before they can continue, the elevator is ringing. Casey believes it is a team sent to rescue them, but much to her surprise, she finds Mega and Giga, the two Pokémon believed lost. She hugs them, but to her shock, she sees Mega carrying the Rusted Shield and Rusted Sword. Henry immediately grabs them, but wails in pain, seeing that they are coated by Eternatus' venom.

Henry Sword goes to clean them first before tempering them. He also ponders the thought why they look broken, when they are supposed to be in mint condition, as depicted in the statue. As he goes to work, Sonia notices it has become quiet. She goes at the stairs, but then notices a burst of energy from the top. As she goes, Oleana makes a call to see how much energy they have accumulated. Sonia approaches Nessa, who asks of her to stand back. The group comments that even if they attack it, it still is standing, even stronger. Oleana confirms to Rose that there has been a burst of Galar particles, to which Rose tells Bede that Eternatus' resolve is increasing. Suddenly, Eternatus shines with a bright light, shooting a beam into the sky. Casey watches this, and calls out to Henry, whose glare is fixated at the artifacts, and sweatdrops fall down from his face. The beam is shot down, extending into something else. Casey asks Henry what is wrong: he looks at her desperately, stating he cannot repair the Rusted Sword and Shield.
