As the group stops at Glimwood Tangle, Allister storms out, adamant to catch a Sinistea and a Polteageist, much like Professor Magnolia has. Casey follows him, and encounters her Toxtricity, Tera. However, it does not listen to her, adamant on defeating a powerful Drakloak that it is chasing about.
Chapter plot[]
In Circhester, a woman talks to Bea over the phone, admitting her shock to hear that Bede - the Trainer that Chairman Rose had endorsed - got disqualified. While followed by Chairman Rose's assistants, she admits that even if the Chairman has the power to do that, she felt that he could've talked things over. She also wonders why Bea hasn't returned from her training yet, reminding that she has challengers. In fact, she reminds that Bea could even get fired for this. Bea replies that it is disrespectful to battle trainers half-hearted. As the woman exits the stadium, the two people knock on the panel, reminding a man that Melony has left the stadium. They call Gordie, who is anxious to face new Trainers, whom the assistants refer to as Julia of Hullbury and Samuel from Turffield. As Gordie puts his glasses on, the two assistants sigh, thinking their jobs would be easier if Gordie was in good terms with his mother.
On their way in the motorhome, Casey praises Kilo for defeating Allister, as its Bite technique was effective. Marvin is glad for Casey, but sees Henry Sword is concerned. Henry Sword admits he is troubled by Bede, to which Marvin reminds that Bede ambushed him, misused his authority and vandalized property - he claims he would've been disqualified even earlier for lesser infractions. Henry doubts that, thinking that Chairman Rose was also responsible for giving Bede the authority to do that. Casey believes Henry is right, thinking Bede got power to his head and misused it a bit. She remembers that Bede was not insistent on retaliating after Rose and others left him.
Henry Sword reminds that Bede had a future, and the chairman recognized himself in Bede to endorse him for the Challenge. However, he reminds that Rose even forgot Bede's name, and even stripped him of his endorsement quite quickly. He remembers that Rose saw Bede as a protector of Galar region for a thousand years, but after their encounter, he changed his mind so quickly to say Bede had "no love" to protect the region. It makes Henry wonder why did Rose consider Bede as a protector of Galar's future. Professor Magnolia notices Henry is being harsh on Rose rather than Bede. Henrys feels like Rose is just acting as he pleases, to which Magnolia remembers that Rose did give himself freedom to do stuff while she was working with him on the Dynamax Band project. However, since he is supporting Galar region with Macro Cosmos organization, Magnolia believes Rose isn't about making empty promises.
Magnolia thinks that Rose was wrong about thinking Bede would act the same way as he does, if they had similar backgrounds. Casey wonders how would Bede even know that, and Marvin notes that he is feeling a bit bad about Bede. Suddenly, Marvin notices someone wearing Casey's Ball Guy mask. Marvin becomes terrified, thinking someone is spying on them, to which Casey has Kilo attack that person. The guy's mask comes off, revealing to be Allister, surprising Casey, for he shouldn't stow away in this vehicle. Allister mutters "Antique show", while in truth, he hid in the costume as he wanted to see Professor Magnolia's antique Sinistea and Polteageist, but now wanted to leave. Casey misinterprets his words, dragging Allister, as Magnolia claims they are near Glimwood Tangle - on their way to Ballonlea.
Allister is glad to see Sinistea and Polteageist, to which Marvin hears him, noting he is quite knowledgeable of Ghost-type Pokémon. Marvin asks when did she even catch these Pokémon: Magnolia tells that one of the wheels fell off as she was driving with Opal to Ballonlea. As the mechanic went to repair the motorhome, she went to make some tea, and found these two Pokémon in her sink. Seeing they were paralyzed, Magnolia believed they ran off from a battle. Suddenly, the motorhome stops, and Magnolia comes out, furious that she stopped on the same spot as earlier. Casey notes that she didn't use a new route for the GPS. Allister senses something, and comes out with Gengar. Casey goes after him, leaving others to repair the motorhome.
Allister actually wants to catch a Polteageist and a Sinistea of his own, as they are around here. Suddenly, a Dreepy lands into him, but seeing it hurt, Allister goes to heal it with a Potion. Casey catches up to him, wondering if Allister's antique show is around here. Suddenly, the two hear a sound: Casey shakes Allister, wondering if he had seen a Toxtricity around. Allister coughs, denying that, to which Casey believes this sound is what her Toxtricity makes when generating electricity. Allister thinks inside himself that all Low Key Toxtricity make this sound. Casey confirms that, but says her Toxtricity - Tera - makes a special "Bmm" sound. Allister's eyes widen, as how could've Casey known what he was thinking.
Casey calls Henry Sword, telling that she might've found Tera. However, as it is very dark, she doesn't know where to start. Allister shakes a mushroom, causing a flash of light to appear. In that moment, Casey sees her Tera, who runs off, despite Casey reminding she is its Trainer. They notice that Dreepy is running away from Tera, who is chasing it. Casey realizes Tera is actually focused on battling Pokémon who seem weak, but contain a hidden strength. Allister thinks it would follow her command, but Casey shows that its poisonous sweat has made it too focused on chasing Dreepy that it won't listen. It is too agitated until it defeats its target, to which Allister believes the fight should be over soon: Dreepy is quite weak and will fall down.
Casey reminds herself that Dreepy is a Ghost/Dragon-type Pokémon, to which Tera's Electric or Poison-type moves have limited effect. In truth, Tera gets struck, as Dreepy latches onto a bigger Pokémon, a Drakloak. Casey is shocked, as she reads on her Pokédex that Drakloak is very fast. Tera is beaten as Drakloak strikes around it and outpaces it with its speed. Allister starts thinking they could just wait, but Casey shouts out she can't watch as her Pokémon gets beaten down. Suddenly, the light from the mushroom is off. Allister goes to shake it to illuminate the area, but Casey stops him, for Tera has an advantage in the dark. Allister asks why is that, as Schilly points out Drakloak is normally as strong as Tera.
Drakloak goes around, and hears a sound. Tera's fur glows up, making Allister wonder about Casey's words, as Tera can be seen in the dark. Drakloak detaches Dreepy, and goes to attack Tera, who fires Snarl. Tera wins this battle, to which Allister realizes what happened: Dreepy is weak on its own, but Drakloak is more confident that it'd beat Tera. Thus, Tera was building up a counter move to defeat it. Casey is glad to meet Tera, seeing it did remember the moves she taught it as a Toxel. Tera turns around, as Casey believes it just wanted not to feel important as it was focused on the battle. Casey bumps it, seeing it is just acting cool. Allister congratulates Casey, for finding her lost Pokémon, to which she bows to him.
Allister smiles, as her voice had brought Tera back to its senses, even as it was truly agitated. Allister realizes he should say this out loud, but Casey thanks him, thinking he complimented her. Allister starts thinking she can read minds, but Casey denies that: instead, she can sense what people are thinking based on their body language - like she can sense what Pokémon are thinking and feeling, she can also sense people's thoughts through body moves. Allister calms down, and turning to Drakloak, he catches it. Casey starts thinking that challengers will have to wait if Allister is not at his stadium to take their challenges on. Allister mutters someone else: Casey remembers that Bea must be at the stadium to accept the challenges.
Allister realizes he has to use pantomime if Casey can read his thoughts like that, but Casey admits she just read this on the webpage. Allister wants to apologize, since challengers should choose whom to battle against. However, Casey stops him, for she wanted to face Allister all along. The two dash away, to find "Allister's antique show", making Allister estranged. At Ballonlea, Henry Sword encounters Opal, who admits he got further than she had expected. Henry is looking forward to their match, but Opal stops him, for she can take his challenge if he answers the question correctly. She asks Henry how old she is, bewildering him, as she suggests 88 or 16 as ages.
