Gulp Gulp!! Pokémon (Japanese: ゴクゴク!! うのみポケモン, HepburnGokugoku!! Unomi Pokemontrans. Glug!! Gulp Pokémon) is the 4th chapter of Pokémon Adventures: Volume 2 (SWSH).

Synopsis[]

With Hop's help, Casey goes to rescue her Arrokuda, Kilo, who got swallowed by a Cramorant. She devises a plan to get Cramorant to spit it out, and immediately heads to the stadium to use Kilo to confront Kabu, the Fire-type Gym Leader.

Chapter plot[]

Casey screams, upon seeing her Arrokuda getting swallowed by a Cramorant. She remembers its habit to stop its flapping for a second, as if it is lost in thought, and Hop realizes that. With a final flap, Cramorant gulps down Arrokuda. Casey starts shaking Hop in shock, and goes to send Raboot out. Hop stops her, reminding that Raboot is at a type disadvantage, reminding that Cramorant is a Water/Flying type Pokémon. In addition, he reminds that it will swallow just about anything it considers food. Casey is quite impressed by his knowledge, who blushes, as he replies that he has read a lot of books that his brother left him. Looking at his Pokémon, Hop chooses Pincurchin, whom Cramorant could mistake for a Pokémon it could swallow.

Cramorant reaches Pincurchin, and as it goes to eat it, Pincurchin emits a Zing Zap to electrocute it. Casey compliments Hop, though she hoped that Cramorant would spit Arrokuda out. Instead, Cramorant becomes still for a moment, then goes to eat Pincurchin again, but gets electrocuted. Cramorant is phased, and while it still continues to attempt to digest Pincurchin, but to no avail. Hop is unsure why Cramorant is doing that, while Casey sees that while it is powerful, Cramorant is quite forgetful. Instead, Hop remembers that Casey used her Rotom Drone to guide Henry Sword through battles. Casey is surprised that he knows about this, but complies to his request: she will try to find a way to rescue Arrokuda while Hop stalls Cramorant around.

Casey prepares her equipment, while Hop runs around with Pincurchin, asking it not to attack Cramorant, for they must not have it faint from this battle. Casey watches the battle, and thinking how Kilo is stuck in Cramorant's belly, she believes it to be scared. In fact, she remembers how she met Kilo and nicknamed it, as well as spent time learning and having fun with it. She snaps out of her thoughts, realizing she has to rescue it. Thinking of Cramorant's ability, Casey reads it is Gulp Missile. Analyzing a bit, she thinks of a possible solution: she sends Raboot out. Hop warns her of the type disadvantage, but Casey is aware of that. Instead, she asks of Hop to send Snorlax out, and asks of Hop to have some faith in her, due to his confusion. Hop does so, and Snorlax stands behind Raboot, who uses Double Kick on Cramorant.

Hop fears it is not working, but Casey reminds they simply have to force Cramorant to think of someone else as its opponent. Cramorant readies itself, and vomits Arrokuda out. Raboot, who is the target of this attack, falls down, so Arrokuda is flung into Snorlax's stomach. The attack has failed, though Snorlax holds Kilo in its arm. Casey is happy that Kilo has returned to her, but Hop reminds that they still have to face Cramorant, who has a Pikachu in its mouth. Raboot repeats using Double Kick, so Pikachu is flung into Snorlax's stomach by Cramorant spitting it out. Immediately, Pincurchin uses Spark to electrocute Cramorant, while Hop throws his Poké Ball to catch it successfully.

Hop is quite content, for he has a fifth team member. Casey is amused, seeing Hop came to catch a Pokémon, to which he reminds that he has to face Kabu, the Fire-type expert. Casey smiles, then bows down, for she is happy that she got her Kilo back with his help. Hop blushes, accepting the gratitude, but is surprised to hear that Casey owes her regards to him and his brother. Casey admits she felt that Leon and Hop were connected, and notes that they are at least siblings, due to their similar appearance. The two see the reasons why they helped one another out, and after a moment of silence, Casey leaves, having to return to Professor Magnolia. Hop thinks of Casey, seeing how cute, talented and intelligent she is. However, he stops, seeing a smug Pikachu looking at him, and Hop asks of Pikachu not to get eaten next time.

Later, at the Gym, Kabu presents a Gigantamax Centiskorch against Casey. The announcer makes it known that Kabu faces his fourth challenger this day, against Casey, after he faced Henry Sword, Marnie and Bede. Casey analyzes Kabu, who is not tired after all these battles he recently had. Casey proudly smiles, for she throws her enlarged Poké Ball to Dynamax her Kilo. The announcer is touched that Casey has recovered at least one of her Pokémon, since her call at Hulbury. Marvin watches this battle, happy to know that Casey can win this battle without much trouble. He wonders what is with Henry, who has not made his call. Suddenly, Marvin gets called by Henry.

Henry Sword explains that Sonia told him that is the only day that they can visit Hammerlocke vault, and is going through the wild area to reach that place. Since he helped someone settle an issue with Team Yell, he was awarded by a Rotom Bike, which is what he is driving to reach that place. Henry asks about Casey, and Marvin sees that she won by using Kilo. Elsewhere, someone has watched Casey's battle, too, and comments that two trainers approved by Leon are victorious, as expected. He notes if Leon's brother wins this battle, then all five trainers would have defeated Kabu by then. The man asks his Duraludon whether they will reach him, as the Gym Leader of Hammerlocke Stadium.
