Blinding!! The End of the Battle (Japanese: バサバサ!! 勝負(しょうぶ)決着(けっちゃく)HepburnBasabasa!! Shoubu ni Ketchakutrans. Fluttering!! Settled in the Battle) is the 7th and final chapter of Pokémon Adventures: Volume 1 (SWSH).

Synopsis[]

Henry Sword faces Milo in a Gym Leader match, by using giant, Dynamaxed Pokémon. Due to Eldegoss' ability, it can spread fluff out that diminishes vision of the opponent. Henry's Lancelot tries to fight off in these conditions, but Milo has an uncanny advantage. The other challengers are left to watch how these events unfold, and start to spark animosity towards one another.

Chapter plot[]

The announcer's broadcast in Turrfield's Gym is that new trainers have arrived to challenge the Gym Leader, as part of their Gym Challenge. The first challenger is the boy approved by Champion Leon: Henry Sword, who faces Gym Leader Milo. His Lancelot faces Milo's Eldegoss, with both Pokémon having been supersized by Dynamax method. Lancelot thrusts its leek into Eldegoss, who is unphased by the attack. Milo belittles Henry for not doing research: Eldegoss's fluff reduces damage. Lancelot repeats its attack, which strikes Eldegoss. The boy looks at this, and sneezes by the intensity of the attack, as the fluff has spread throughout the stadium.

Henry Sword barely sees through this fluff, as Milo points out it is a big obstacle for this battle. Sou sees something, and has Lancelot attack, which reveals Eldegoss for a moment. Casey is stumped as how the fluff reappears moment after it is blown away. Marnie points out there's not much point if the fluff cannot be blown away, while Bede comments that Henry has already lost, if he didn't research his opponent on time. Marvin looks at the competitors, believing they are thinking that must be tough going first. Due to Lancelot standing about, unable to do anything, it gets hit by Max Strike, which almost knocks it down.

Having spotted Eldegoss, Henry Sword commands Lancelot to use Max Knuckle. The fist appears in the sky, striking Eldegoss on the head. However, this causes even more fluff to be spread out. Marvin suspects while Eldegoss attacking will reveal its position, if the attack lands on the wrong spot, it will cause more fluff to be spread out. Casey and the boy suspect that the attack did some damage, and another attack may even defeat Eldegoss. Bede doubts it will be that easy, as he can sense that this is Henry's first official match, as well as the first match between Dynamaxed Pokémon. Casey is surprised at Bede's intuition, to which Bede arrogantly claims that Henry should throw the match so he could see Bede battling.

In fact, Bede proudly announces that Chairman Rose personally endorsed him. The boy reminds Bede that Henry Sword got endorsed by Champion Leon, to which Bede dismisses that, thinking it is a bigger deal to be endorsed by the chairman. The boy argues there's nothing about whom endorses the trainers, and argues with Bede, to the point Marnie shouts at the both boys. Suddenly, Eldegoss uses Max Overgrowth, causing mushrooms to grow out and hit Lancelot, knocking it down. At this point, Eldegoss shrinks down, which surprises Marvin. The boy and Marnie explain that after using three Dynamax moves, the Pokémon return to their original size, as well as the fact that both sides can Dynamax only once per battle.

Marvin counts that Lancelot used only one Dynamax move. Bede doubts it will be of much use: not only the fluff has spread out so even the ordinary-sized Lancelot can find Eldegoss, but Lancelot also got defeated from Max Overgrowth move. Marnie suspects that Eldegoss is, too, affected by the lack of sight from the fluff, and it also has trouble finding Lancelot. Bede is annoyed by the two, as they haven't figured out the solution. The boy shouts at Bede, who refuses to unveil what he knows about this situation. Milo looks at the fluff, which has subsided a bit, and suspects Lancelot has fainted. Milo goes to call Henry Sword, but then notices something: a giant fist goes to strike Eldegoss. The strike hits Eldegoss, defeating it in an instant.

With Eldegoss defeated, the fluff has cleared from the station. Henry Sword comes to Milo, who realizes that Henry Sword has taken advantage of the situation: Lancelot hid amidst the fluff, waiting for the opportunity to strike. Still, Sou apologizes for making Milo worry about his well-being. Milo smiles, for he used the same tactic against Henry, and has let his guard down, which cost him the victory. Still, the two sides shake hands: Milo congratulates Henry, and wishes him luck in his next battle. The announcer proclaims Henry as the victor, and explains there will be a half-hour break before the next challenger faces Milo. The boy, Marvin and Casey cheer for Henry's victory, and the latter two go to the waiting room to congratulate Henry Sword. Marnie decides to go out as well. Bede walks away, though gets angry at the boy's comment how getting endorsed by the Champion means something.

The boy thinks of Leon, and starts to understand why he endorsed Sou. At the waiting room, Marvin congratulates Henry Sword, and asks how did he know about Eldegoss. However, Casey shushes Marvin, as she wants to figure this one by herself in battle, and not before. The two people from Team Yell appear, and shout at Casey, who recognizes them from the Wild Area. The duo shows their pictures of Marnie, for they came to cheer her on. Casey realizes that was the girl that sat beside her at the stadium, though Marvin smirks how she didn't figure this out sooner. The duo runs to catch up to Marnie, to which Casey accompanies them, leaving Marvin and a smiling Sou behind. Henry goes to the elevator, telling Marvin he won't watch Casey's battle that takes place after Marnie's.

Casey suddenly returns, giving Sou a chip with the data on the previous battle. She then pushes Team Yell away, as they are going to watch Marnie battle. Henry Sword turns to Marvin, asking if he would watch this battle. Marvin asks what will Henry do next, and is told he will help Professor Magnolia with some gear. The two encounter Sonia, who has heard that Henry won the battle against Milo. Marvin asks what is she doing, and is told she is hunting for treasure. While looking for murals, a girl told her about hidden treasure in Turrfield, to "seek oneself at the standing stones". Marvin is curious about this, to which Sonia drags them away, to a hill depicting a mural. She remarks it is unknown who, or why, they drew this ancient picture. Sonia remarks it is about a giant, while the vortex is not about the sun.

Marvin suspects it is about the black night, the event that happened in Galar a long time ago. Sonia applauds him, for she is thinking the same thing. Looking at the giant, Marvin suspects it represents a supersized Pokémon. At evening, Marvin is pleased to hear that all five challengers have defeated Milo. Casey, however, has nearly fainted, as she was at the edge of losing. While Casey announces that their next stop is to battle Nessa at Hulbury (to which she has done some extra research), Henry Sword is trimming Lancyn's leek.
