Ruby Field is a location introduced in Generation III.
Description[]
Ruby Field is one of two pinball tables that can be played in Pokémon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire, the other one being the Sapphire Field. It is named after Pokémon Ruby Version.
Catch 'Em Mode can be activated by sending the Poké Ball through the Right Loop twice and then into Sharpedo's mouth. The player has only two minutes to capture the Pokémon with its silhouette depicted. The mode ends if either the clock runs out or the player loses the Poké Ball. If the catch is successful, a Poké Ball lights up under the silhouette window.
Egg Mode can be activated by hitting the Cyndaquil four times. The Pokémon will crawl across the bottom of the board. The player can hit it with a Poké Ball twice before it goes back to the cave. If the catch is successful, another Poké Ball lights up under the silhouette window.
The Poké Mart is located at the top right corner, and if the Poké Ball enters it, this starts EVO Mode.
To activate Travel Mode, the player must hit the Chikorita Switch and then hit the Linoone on the left side, and repeat two more times.
Areas[]
There are seven areas to access: Petalburg Forest, Chimney Mountain, Plains, Lilycove, Safari Zone, Granite Cave, and the Ruins. Some of the Pokémon that can be encountered in the aforementioned areas do not appear in the iteration on Sapphire Field, and both Chimney Mountain and Safari Zone are absent from the Sapphire Field entirely.
Petalburg Forest has eight different Pokémon types, including Cascoon, Duskull, Kecleon, Nincada, Nuzleaf, Silcoon, Treecko, and Zigzagoon. Neither Nuzleafs nor Zigzagoons appear in the Sapphire Field iteration of this area.
Chimney Mountain has seven different Pokémon types, most of them being Fire-type, including Koffing, Numel, Skarmory, Slugma, Torchic, Torkoal, and Vulpix.
The Plains has eight different Pokémon types, including Castform, Electrike, Illumise, Magnemite, Poochyena, Taillow, Voltorb, and Zangoose. Neither Illumises nor Zangooses appear in the Sapphire Field iteration of this area.
Lilycove has eight different Pokémon types, all of which are at least partly Water-type, including Carvanha, Lileep, Luvdisc, Relicanth, Staryu, Tentacool, Wailmer, and Wingull. Several of the aforementioned Pokémon appear in the Sapphire Field's Beach area, which does not have an equivalent in the Ruby Field. Three of the Pokémon—Lileep, Staryu, and Wailmer—do not appear in the Sapphire Field at all.
The Safari Zone has eight different Pokémon types, including Doduo, Girafarig, Heracross, Pikachu, Pinsir, Psyduck, Rhyhorn, and Wobbuffet.
The Granite Cave has eight different Pokémon types, including Abra, Grimer, Loudred, Machop, Mawile, Nosepass, Shelgon, and Solrock. Three of the Pokémon—Machop, Mawile, and Solrock—do not appear in the Sapphire Field.
The Ruins has the three original Legendary Giants (Registeel, Regice, and Regirock) and Beldum.
Certain Pokémon have a highly unlikely chance of appearing in any of the locations, including Aerodactyl, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Latios, and Totodile.
Bonus Fields[]
Besides the Rayquaza Bonus Field and Sealeo Bonus Field, which both also appear in Sapphire Field, Ruby Field has two Bonus Fields of its own, Kecleon Stage and Groudon Stage.
In Kecleon Stage, the player has two minutes to hit the Kecleon 10 times. It will be hindered by Kecleon making itself invisible and wandering throughout the field (the clue is moving flowers or a small splash on the puddle). However, the player can hit the tree and use the falling Devon Scope to find Kecleon. The bonus given is 30 million points times the multiplier of the ball.
The Groudon Stage is unlocked by beating the Kecleon Stage, and it gives the player three minutes to hit Groudon 15 times. Groudon will use Eruption to surround itself with four flaming pillars that can all be hit to be weakened. It will also use Rock Tomb to make four boulders fall, hindering the player. It can also use Flamethrower to immobilise the Poké Ball for a few seconds. If the player clears the stage twice in a row, Groudon will be caught in addition to the Stage Clear bonus. The bonus given is 50 million points times the multiplier of the ball.
