After the events of Pokémon Black and White, Team Plasma was divided into two different groups: one led by Rood that helps Pokémon alongside N, the other still under Ghetsis' control with his plans of world domination. After the player character meets the two grunts arguing with each other on the river bridge, the player character can ask said grunt for the events of the previous game and the schism in Team Plasma that divided them. When the player character reaches Rood's home in Driftveil City, he can be challenged in battle outside the entrance to the house. After the battle, he invites the player character inside along with Hugh, who demands to know where his sister's Purrloin is. Unfortunately, Rood doesn't know and he runs outside upset and filled with the desire for revenge. After more storytelling about Team Plasma's past, Rood gives the player character N's Zorua for them to keep.
