Rival's house is a location introduced in Generation I.

Description[]

The rival's house is located in Pallet Town of the Kanto region. It is where the player's rival and his sister, Daisy, lives. The house is located directly right of the player's house. Despite having an identical exterior to the player's house, the rival's house has only one floor instead of two. In Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version only, this was rectified by adding a bedroom upstairs, reflecting the neighboring player's house.

In the Johto-based games, the term "rival's house" no longer applies to location because the rival from the Generation I games has been redefined as Blue, making it Blue's house.

Appearances[]

Generation I and remakes[]

Once the player has received a Pokédex from Professor Oak, they can go to their rival's house and receive a Town Map from Daisy.

Generation II and remakes[]

In Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version and Pokémon Crystal Version, Daisy tells the player (from the Johto region) that Blue is the Gym Leader of Viridian City and that his frequent absence from Pallet Town is troublesome for the trainers. For every 500 steps the player takes, Daisy offers to groom a Pokémon in their team, increasing its friendship.

In the remakes Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version, the house fulfills the same purpose as in the original Generation II games. However, Daisy now grooms one of the player's Pokémon for free, but only between 3pm and 4pm. When Daisy has groomed the player's Pokémon at least seven times and the player has a Pokémon with a full friendship, she provides Blue's PokéGear number. The player is able to explore the added upstairs bedroom.

Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version[]

Although Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version does not feature the plot of the Generation II games, the feature of Daisy grooming one of the player's Pokémon was carried over from the Generation II games.
