The Rising Volt Tacklers are a team of adventurers led by Professor Friede and later Roy, appearing as the protagonists in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
Overview[]
Under the leadership of Professor Friede, the Rising Volt Tacklers travel the world aboard the Brave Olivine to uncover secrets and discover new Pokémon. They are currently investigating a mysterious pendant, similar to one held by their rivals, the Explorers. Recently, they have been joined by Liko, the pendant’s current owner, and Roy.
Following the incident at Laqua, where they lost sight of Friede, the group disbanded after being falsely accused by Spinel, who framed them for the Laqua incident. However, a year later, Roy reassembled the team with Liko and Dot to clear their name and confront the Explorers. Friede would later hand his mantle to Roy after a battle between them.

Story[]
Pokémon Horizons: The Series/Pocket Monsters (2023 series)[]
The Rising Volt Tacklers were first founded by Friede, after his encounter with Captain Pikachu inspired him to reach the skies. With Orla's help, he converted Ludlow's boat into a flying ship called the Brave Olivine, and recruited Mollie, Murdock and his niece Dot sometime afterwards. Throughout their journey across the world, several wild Pokémon would join the Rising Volt Tacklers. By the time Liko joined the group, a large amount of wild Pokémon had become affiliated with the crew, helping out in various duties.
Prior to the first episode, the Rising Volt Tacklers were hired by a women named Lucca to protect her daughter, Liko, as she was currently attending the Indigo Academy in Kanto. Once they arrived at the academy, members of the Rising Volt Tacklers were going around campus looking for Liko, though they were unsuccessful due to the large amount of students wearing identical uniforms. After the academy dismissed their students as part of a break, Friede went back to the academy to look for Liko again as he realized that with less students there would make it easy for him to find her. Fortunately, Friede's hunch was correct as he was able to find Liko but was being pursued by the Explorers. Seeing this, Friede dives in to rescue Liko and battles with the leader of the group.
After Liko unsuccessfully tried to escape to avoid getting others hurt, Friede rescued her and brought her to his airship where she was introduce to the members of his team. Liko was initially wary of the group, but soon began to trust them after seeing other Pokémon on the ship who were enjoying their time there. Amethio and his associates however, managed to track and board the ship, resulting in them taking her Sprigatito. However, the Rising Volt Tacklers and Liko found the Explores as they were able to rescue Sprigatito. Seeing that they put her feelings and her partner's safety first, Liko decided to fully trust them and decided to be part of the group, which they accepted.
During a repair stop on an island in Kanto, the Rising Volt Tacklers met Roy as he befriended a Fuecoco that settled into their airship. However, during a confutation with the Explores, the Rising Volt Tacklers and Roy witness a Shiny Rayquaza coming out of the latter's accident PokéBall. Once Rayquaza dealt with the Explorers, it refused to return to its Poké Ball and left. Having been inspired to seek out Rayquaza and his newfound friends, Roy decided to join the Rising Volt Tacklers as he takes Fuecoco as his first Pokémon and partner.
Sometime after leaving Khana's factory in the Galar region, a wild Polteageist would move into the ship and befriended the crew, despite having a short rivalry with the group's Shuckle. It would end up creating a Sinistea, having poured its liquid into an antique teacup Diana had given Liko before she departed.
After coming across an injured adult Maushold, Liko discovered the rest of the family inside their home, severely injured as a tree had fallen down and crushed their home. Upon healing the rest of the group, they began to live on the ship.
Following the incident at Laqua, the trio left the group to go their separate ways after the Rising Volt Tacklers have been disbanded: Liko returned to Indigo Academy to continue her studies, Roy went on a solo journey and Dot returned to her parents' home. Spinel even spread the false news of the Rising Volt Tacklers being the culprits behind the chaos at Laqua.
A year later, Roy decided to restart the Rising Volt Tacklers with Dot, and later Liko and Ult. Their goal was to clear the Rising Volt Tacklers' name and put a stop to the Explorers' plans once and for all.
After Liko, Roy, Dot and Ult reunited with Mollie, Murdock and Orla, they convinced the three into rejoining as well. After fully repairing and stocking the Brave Olivine, Dot found a coded message in the group's personal app on her Rotom Phone. It turned out to be from Friede, who revealed that both he and Charizard had survived their fall at Laqua, but couldn't contact the group due to the Explorers watching his every move. The Rising Volt Tacklers than came up with their next move; which was to find Friede.
After a failed attempt to try and rescue five of the Six Heroes from the Explorers. Liko, Roy, Dot and Ult realized that they would need to get even stronger in order to deal with the Explorers new Super Strong Spheres. Later, after being contacted Briar, who’s currently at Blueberry Academy in the Unova region. The four decided to head there in order to take part in the school’s special battle program.
After leaving Blueberry, the crew learned that Friede was currently in space, and he was able to successfully land safely with the aid of the ship's Pokemon. After seeing how much Roy had grown, Friede challenged him to a battle, with the condition being that if Roy lost, the Rising Volt Tacklers would have to disband permanently.
After Roy won, and seeing that the crew didn't need him around all the time to protect them, Friede decided to temporarily leave to find a way to permanently neutralize the Explorers' Laquium.
