Restricted Sparring (しばり組手, Restricted Sparring?) is a feature introduced in the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Isle of Armor Expansion Pass, unlocked after evolving Kubfu into Urshifu.
Mechanics[]
At the start of Restricted Sparring, the player can choose one of the eighteen types, then use three Pokémon that has that specific type. The player then battles the Master Dojo Students, whose Pokémon would not have a common type, on the Battle Court.
After the player gets 5 consecutive wins, the challenge is considered complete; however, the player can continue to battle for a higher win streak. The challenge ends if the player loses or withdraws.
Restrictions[]
- All Pokémon above level 50 is set to level 50.
- The player's Pokémon must be of different species.
- The player cannot use items from the bag. Items already held by the player's Pokémon can still be used.
- All of the player's Pokémon's held items must be different.
- Unlike previous battle facilities, the player's Pokémon's HP, PP, and held items are not restored after each battle. Instead, the player can restore the Pokémon and held item at the end of each battle, up to two times per challenge.
In addition, the following Pokémon are not allowed:
Trainers[]
The player only faces Master Dojo Students, who do not have defined names. They share a common roster of Pokémon, and often include Pokémon who have a type advantage against the player's.
Rewards[]
After each win, the player is rewarded 3 BP; at a win streak of 5, the player gets 30 BP. The first time the player wins using a type they have not used before for Restricted Sparring, 30 BP are also rewarded.
Once the player completes the challenge with all types, they receive a The Masterly Mustard Casual Tee.
