A repeatable cutscene in the story of a Pokémon game is a cutscene that can be permanently unlocked and rewatched indefinitely no matter how far the player progresses in the game. Most story cutscenes are viewable only at their respective points in the story; once you finish that part of the story, the only way to see the cutscene in-game again is to start a new save file and play the game up to that point in the story, or if a later point in the story shows a flashback to that scene.
In the core series, cutscenes preceding battles against Gym Leaders and other story bosses can be viewed an unlimited number of times until the boss is defeated, should the player repeatedly lose to the boss trainer, as the cutscene is replayed on both the first attempt and any subsequent attempts. However, these are not repeatable because once the Gym Leader or other boss is defeated, the cutscene can never be viewed again.
Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum[]
After getting the Pokédex from Professor Rowan and getting a tour of Sandgem Town from Lucas or Dawn, the player must talk to his or her mom in Twinleaf Town to continue the story. One fragment of that cutscene, specifically, when Mom says, "Take a quick rest, dear", is repeatable, as it is shown every time the player talks to Mom in Twinleaf Town.
The Elite Four and Cynthia can be battled indefinitely, so the cutscenes before and after the battles are repeatable. The Hall of Fame cutscene is also repeatable.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky[]
Sentry Duty is introduced in Chapter 4 of the main story. The player later does Sentry Duty twice during Chapter 6. After the player and partner graduate from the guild and unlock Luminous Spring, they can perform Sentry Duty whenever they want, with the following two exceptions:
- The player cannot do Sentry Duty between unlocking Aegis Cave and unlocking Concealed Ruins.
- The player cannot do Sentry Duty while Azurill is in the player team's former room at the guild, suffering from an unwakeable nightmare.
As a result, the cutscene following Sentry Duty can be rewatched indefinitely. This is one of the only story cutscenes that can be rewatched after unlocking the Marine Resort. Chatot will tell the player and partner, "You've worked an honest day! Let me review your sentry-duty performance," though the rest of the dialogue depends on the player's Sentry Duty performance. In Chapter 4, Chatot will say, "You've done an honest day's work" instead of "You've worked an honest day"; starting from Chapter 6, the first sentence permanently switches to the latter.
Pokémon X and Y[]
All Holo Clips, once unlocked, can be watched indefinitely. For example, during the player's first visit to Lumiose City, Tierno tells the player to meet him at Route 5. This scene, being a Holo Clip, can be watched indefinitely.
